Update Mar 2024 Went for bfast at 730 am got 2 bagel bfast sandwiches. When we unwrapped them, the bagels seemed microwaved. Unusually soft with hard rubbery edges, not like chewy bagel chew but over microwaved rubbery contrasted with way too soft bagel in other spots. Not sure what happened there. We ate them but will prob wait a while before returning. Hopefully they get it strightned out.
They are super nice but understaffed. Hope they can find ppl to work.
We need good bagels in srq! So, I went to lox and egg the other week. Not the typical good experience. Looked them up and saw there are new owners and who happen to be the same new owners of this location. I was sad that we lost the best bagels in town, from at both lox and egg and buddys, given the same new owners.
Thrilled to report buddys seemed just the same as always, to me. Great bagels and selection! We forgot to get them to cut the bagels but that's on us for not asking.
If you haven't been since the name change, give them a try! You will be happy. Good...
Read moreWe are from NJ, living here in Sarasota...so looking for an actual NJ/NY bagel sandwich spot is hard. Brooklyn Bagel is one of the closest we've found so far.
We got an egg/cheese on plain and a porkroll, egg and cheese on everything. I liked that the American cheese was actual deli American cheese. The porkroll was good...(I'm a thinner sliced porkroll type of girl, this sandwich had the standard thicker slices...it was still delicious!).
Their bagel flavor selection is amazing and their flavors of cream cheese are impressive. The only thing I was hoping for is a nice cup of coffee with my sandwich. And while they offer iced coffee, I'd have liked an umsweet iced coffee or a hot black coffee to go with my delicious breakfast.
The call ahead order was promptly done when promised, the staff was incredibly nice. The shop inside was updated and really clean. The vibe was modern and sleek. Definitely would recommend this spot for breakfast and I can't wait to go back and try their...
Read moreI don't know if it's an issue with this company or this location, but Cattlemen has all the NY attitude without the follow-through of great food. Unfortunately, this is the only place with decent bagels nearby. I keep giving them a chance, but the last few times have just been awful. I had a bagel with bacon with cream cheese with partially cooked bacon, then another one with cooked bacon but with hardly any cream cheese (to the point where it felt like a joke). I took my parents there and apparently that day they were running low on cream cheese because they were just barely covering one side of the bagel. It's just so unpredictable and requires way too much effort on the part of the customer to ensure the order is correct. I can't just leave with my order, I need to sit there and check everything before leaving. I am writing this in the hopes that someone reads it there and gets some quality assurance measures because I would actually love to have a good reliable bagel...
