i visited this place because of the glowing reviews, but left quite dissapointed, and even more so later on. my boyfriend and i both got the chicken and waffles which were alright, but nothing to die for. while eating my meal at the establishment, i had something very solid and crunchy that i bit down on which ended up being an eggshell. i brushed this off as i know mistakes happen and didnt want to cause a fuss. i began eating my boyfriend's leftovers this morning (he didnt even want his thats how unimpressive it was) and felt another crunch. okay, second time, this is getting annoying but i still want to try to enjoy the $21 meal i paid for. as im cutting into the waffle i find a gigantic piece of egg shell. as you can see in the picture this is literally the size of my thumbnail. so that means in both of our meals there were sizeable pieces of eggshell. i just cannot imagine charging $21/dish and not having the best possible quality. there are plenty other fried chicken dishes in sarasota for a fraction of the price. kekes breakfast cafe has an amazing chicken and waffles that is far superior and cheaper. i would go there instead anyday.

I’ve driven by this place a million times and, intrigued by its name, decided to finally give it a try. Though the indoor seating is quite limited, if you have to wait to eat here…DO IT! It’s well worth the wait. Just check out the lovely bookstore a few doors down until your table is ready. I’m far from being a burger lover, but I couldn’t get enough of my Hitman burger. I skipped the pimento cheese, but that fried mozzarella on it was fabulous. I don’t do potato wedge-type fries, but I gave some to my family to try and all of them were exclaiming how delicious they were. My entire party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. A gentleman from another table told us he was coming back again and again to eat his way through the entire menu because everything is just so good. We agreed that we would do exactly the same. As if we didn’t already have countless reasons to return, the chef blessed us with a complimentary Oreo Cheesecake with Chantilly Cream. My husband was already stuffed from the perfectly fried chicken and incredible cornbread, but he couldn’t stop eating that dessert, especially the Chantilly Cream. Can’t wait to go back!

I was out driving around in Sarasota and came across what may be THE hidden gem of the Sarasota culinary scene. Located just North of the Van Wezel performing arts hall, this restaurant is amazing!! The aesthetic is homely, which coincides with the hospitality shown by the owner. He was very engaging, enthusiastically conversing and explaining the story and inspiration behind the restaurant while simultaneously preparing the delicious cuisine. The Brussels and cauliflower were exceptional with a little bit of heat that was unexpected but a pleasant surprise. The mac and cheese with chicken was absolutely delicious and would highly recommend this dish to everyone. The coconut cake was excellent and that’s impressive since I’m not a big coconut fan. The portions are generous, guaranteed to feed a few mouths or multiple meals if you’re unwilling to share (which I wouldn’t blame you). In addition to a creative menu, the chef also says there are different specials every week, which makes it even more enticing to come back again and soon. Simply fantastic!!!

Fork & Hen was a whole experience! Now, that experience was very positive overall; the prices were unexpectedly high for a small chicken/Southern food place (around $20 for a chicken sandwich), but if you can get past that, the food will knock your socks off. When my sandwich came my eyes got wide. It was gigantic and piled high with toppings. I had never seen a bun like that either - it's their signature fresh baked bread and it's delicious. I usually get a salad for my side at places like this but something told me I needed to try the fries (truffle Parmesan)... And that was 100% the right decision. The fries were cooked uniquely well - extra crispy outside, flavorful, and they shaved a mountain of fresh Parm on top of them. The service was decent and the atmosphere was standard for a small restaurant, although they seem very accommodating with special requests. I'd recommend trying this place at least once. Just don't expect it to be a bargain lunch.

Omgggggg. This restaurant is beyond what I ever imagined. I pictured southern cuisine with a few salads here and there, their famous waffles and fried chicken etc. but boy was I in for a major surprise when my dinner showed up, packed with creativity, bursting of enormous flavors, and served with love. On a cold Sarasota night, I ordered fried chicken fried rice, the best fried rice you’d ever have! What made this dish unique was the layer of omelette which was sandwiched between the fried rice and lg pieces of fried chicken, topped with scallions and red cabbage. This restaurant is a culinary delight. The staff is so humble and kind. I can’t wait to get back to try their other offerings. Only downside is that the indoor seating area is somewhat small, but there is a large outdoor eating area, perfect for the Florida weather.
