Spectators Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Saugatuck Township

Up until last night Spectators had been one of our family's favorite places to eat. This was the first time we have been there under the new ownership. Its a bit disappointing when people that walk in the door the same time as you, get there food, eat their meal and get the check, before our food came out. It took an hour for our food to come out after our order was taken. I know a large group came in about the time we did. And our server was apologetic for the situation. But maybe if it hadn't taken her 15 minutes to bring our drinks out after we ordered. She could have gotten our meal order in sooner. And maybe if the food had been a bit better I wouldn't be giving a 3 star review. But my club sandwich had definitely been sitting in the kitchen a while before it came out. The toast was cold and stale, one step up from cardboard. And after the first five in our group got their food it was almost another 10 minutes before the last person got theirs. Out of respect for how it used to be under the old ownership, I'm leaving a 3 star review instead of a 1 star. And to be fair the waitress did remove that last persons meal from our tab. Incredible Mother's Day meal!!! A large celebration of family was not a disappointment! Wait staff did an awesome job, even with reservation # increased an hour before arrival. Mom said her ribs (Steak & Ribs) were incredible! Brother ordered the same and agreed whole-heartedly! I recently got hooked on the home-made nachos and spinach dip appetizer. Niece ordered the home made Nachos supreme (her fav which she has ordered in others states and in Mexico). Seriously impressed she told the owner they were by far the BEST she has ever eaten!! My husband ordered the Prime rib special and was NOT disappointed. I couldnt hear the specific feed-back from the other end of the table tho everyone agreed then food was GREAT. An added bonus benefit the staff moved the sports we were watching to the large TV near our table. Lastly, we had the pleasure of sharing some time in casual conversation with the Pat (owner/manager)! Great time and food...

We sat in the restaurant/family side rather than the bar. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich and I got a petite sirloin meal. I was happy with the food and everything was cooked to our liking. It is bar food and was nothing particularly memorable, but again, it is a bar diner.

Service was absolutely exceptional. Our waitress was very attentive, and I wish I could recall her name to commemorate her, but I'd imagine nearly everyone in this tiny town knows who the great waitresses are here. Our food was also done very quickly, especially given that it was a packed NFL playoff night.

So again, the food is nothing to write home about, the service is great, and it's probably one of the better experiences you'll have at a restaurant at this price in Douglas/Saugatuck. We were out-of-towners during the winter months and were...
