Booked online a week out, as instructed when I called, which was perfect and super easy. When we got there for our time slot, we waited around 20-25 minutes for the next truck to come back to get us. It was kind of hot, waiting in the sun with very little shade, but we didn’t melt, so that’s a plus. We brought our 4 kids, ages 10, 8, 6 and 4 and I honestly had no idea what to expect. I thought it was going to be somewhat chill and slow, but had zero idea it was going to feel like a roller coaster. The minute we took off my 4 year old daughter clung to me for dear life and kept saying she was going to throw up, to which I replied, me too. Hahaha. But once the initial shock of speed and ups and downs goes away, we stopped on the top of the dune to take pictures and learn some local history. We got to get out, stretch our legs and climb the dunes a bit if you want. My daughter didn’t want to get back on, lol. I promised her she wouldn’t throw up (heavy promise, I know) but the rest of the ride was awesome! Neither her, nor I, lost our breakfast, and by the end, she was raising her hands like a roller coaster on all the down hills. It was a pretty cool experience and our guide was funny and awesome! Definitely recommend, and realize it’s not a...

Saugatuck Dune Rides was an absolute blast—a must-do for all ages! From start to finish, it was a fun-filled adventure that had our whole family smiling and holding on tight. The ride takes place in a custom-built truck that handles the sandy terrain like a champ—it honestly felt like a roller coaster in the dunes!
Our guide was upbeat, welcoming, and full of fascinating insights about the unique history and formation of the Saugatuck dunes. We made a few scenic stops along the way, perfect for capturing photos and soaking in the view. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, too—we spotted deer and chipmunks right along the route!
Pro tip: Book ahead on their website! This ride is super popular, and walk-ups might be out of luck. There's also a charming gift shop on site along with sweet treats. The whole experience lasts about 40 minutes and is truly enjoyable for everyone in the family.
Highly recommend adding this to your Michigan adventure list—you...
Read moreWe had a great time with a group of 7 people ranging from ages 6 to 68. My 6-year old daughter promptly got a nosebleed on the ride and they didn't miss a beat or freak out (and it's hard not to freak out with blood covering a 6-year old!). Frosty was our driver and he was a lot of fun, very engaged, and seems like he loves what he does. The ride was a great mix between a history lesson, nature, and a mini-thrill ride going through the dunes like a little roller coaster. The truck does have a seat belt for the row and ropes on the sides if anyone is worried. It is also not top heavy (no top) so I felt very comfortable it would not roll. We even got to see a deer in the forest part and it was great having the wind whip through our hair! A must do in my opinion with a stop at Saugatuck Brewery for a...
