UPDATE SUMMER 2025 After 3 consecutive bad experiences with incredibly watery smoothies, I decided to call in and request a refund on my latest order. I called 3 different times and there was no answer or voicemail. I eventually placed feedback on the corporate website, which is supposed to get forwarded to the location. I never heard back. As a regular, this puts a damper on my Summer since I won't want to try there again anytime soon.
UPDATE SUMMER 2024 At some point the quality improved again, I believe after new management came in. The vibe was definitely better with some of the newer crew involved.
UPDATE SUMMER 2020 Dropping down to 2 stars. Have went several times this summer and the smoothies have been very inconsistent, and are either watery, icy, or completely off. They have attempted to fix the issue every time I ask but the fixes are often as bad. It's to the point where it's so embarrassing for me to keep telling them it's not right that I just don't want to come here any more.
UPDATE MAY 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe seems to have fixed its issues... Their smoothies are back to being thick and flavorful. I have had about 5 consecutive trips in the past 2 months that have all been terrific.
PREVIOUS REVIEW 1-STAR FROM 2018 I've been here dozens and dozens of times over the past 5 years and have had probably every smoothie on the menu. In the past couple years, this place has gone downhill big time. It used to be my go-to because the fantastic smoothies and service. Now every time I go there I think "please please please don't serve me watery liquid trash that's pretending to be a smoothie". Read moreWe ordered 2 smoothies, both which tasted sour and just horrible. I love Tropical smoothie and I drink it often but this location is disgusting. We went back to kindly ask for a re make because it doesn’t taste right. The “owner” apparently his name is Maxwell, fought with us about this complaint. We asked for Head Office contact information to report this and he said he’s the highest level and no one is above him (what a joke) . He then took my smoothie, put a dirty spoon in it , tasted it and said that’s how it tastes. He did the same with the 2nd smoothie so his spit was literally in our smoothies (like what?). I found green pieces in both smoothies and said that shouldn’t be there, he said “I will make 1 fresh but the other is fine and I refuse to make another one”, Followed by “The green pieces were probably from a dirty piece of cutlery” (like what?) and still refused to re make both smoothies when he just admitted that the establishment is dirty AND HIS SPIT IS IN IT. HOW IS 1 SMOOTHIE FINE AND 1 NOT WHEN THEY ARE BLENDED IN THE SAME BLENDER AT THE SAME TIME. I worked in Hospitality (restaurants & Country Clubs) in the USA, London and around Europe for 8 years and I have never experienced this. The lady in the front with the black hair and cat eye make up informed me I could not have a drink carrier for two giant smoothies. I explained to her that I needed one so that they don’t fall over in the car, as I had another order bundled with it, and had no room left for the drinks in my drink holders. She still said no. So I asked for a bag, because I couldn’t just sit is two giant smoothies on the seat or the floor of my car. Obviously something like a smoothie would spill and create a mess. She also didn’t want to get me a bag. She’s arguing with me about giving me a bag to keep the smoothies from falling over in my car. I refused to leave without a bag and she relented and gave me one. I will never deliver from this place again, and they’ve lost a potential customer. If a customer needs a drink, carrier or bag, you get them one. Period. You don’t fight with them.
