Let me start by saying we did not go to the brick and mortar. We went behind farm Street today in front of the brewery where the food truck was. And all I can say is amazing. Grace. When we drove past the line was rather long and the sweltering heat made me wonder why everybody was waiting so patiently. Then we got up to order. All of my questions were answered in my first bite of the succulent smoked, turkey and brisket. The brisket was Texas style so it was big but it was succulent, juicy, had an amazing smoke ring and the rub on top had bite to it but didn't overwhelm the meat. That coupled with two pieces of Captain John durst bread. Now I've had brisket many places but this was by far the best. And the choice to use. John durst bread. Wow! A lot of thought. Went into that because that bread is moist and soft and envelops. Whatever you put it in or on it allowed us to taste the meat and didn't overwhelm it. The sandwich I got the half pound of smoked turkey as well. And once again they did not fail. They understood their assignment. It gave off a wonderful aroma and was tender to the touch and tasty to the palate. Truly they are not creating barbecue but rather works of art. Real foodies know that food is a love language and they hug you from the moment you have. Whatever it is, you order with both arms and a warm embrace. The staff was affable and courteous and patient. Even in the midst of all the noise and extreme heat, they managed smiles and Southern congeniality truly worth the ride and the wait! It is apparent to all who have the pleasure of eating anything from the food truck that the people engaged in the love affair with barbecue in that vehicle. Really care. You see when people create art and an experience, one comes to understand that they know food is one of the most powerful mediums in the universe. Thank you for a...

My son and I have a tradition where we take monthly trips to new barbecue restaurants. Today we hopped in the car and drove an hour and a half down to Savannah to check out slow fire! We got there an hour early and had a great chance to talk with both of the owner and his wife. Wonderful human beings that have a passion for what they do.
The food, oh my God, the food. They don’t typically serve beef ribs on Thursdays, but we pre-ordered some to make sure we had a chance to try them. So juicy, full of flavor and beautifully rendered fat. Between that, the brisket, pulled pork and smoked turkey, everything was top notch. The bark on the brisket and beef ribs with nothing like I’ve tasted before. It had that classic pepper vibe, but it had an interesting crunch about it, which was different, but really good!
Really enjoyed the sauce as well, although I didn’t put it on anything because I like to enjoy the meat as it is. I did sample it and it was A nice combination of vinegar, sweet and ketchup. Between the brussels sprouts, brisket, baked beans, coleslaw, and mac & cheese, the sides were all amazing! Even the fried squares of brisket mac & cheese were great with that little hot honey drizzle.
Everything is to go since there are no places to sit, outside of your own vehicle, but that didn’t ruin the experience at all. We picked up some stickers, took home a lot of food, and enjoyed our quick little trip to Savannah. Thanks again for a great experience and being stop number 15 on our quest for 120 barbecue restaurants.

Read moreWe already had a few precooked whole briskets from SlowFire in our freezer so we decided to do a BBQ for our baby shower with about 40 people in attendance. We ordered full pans of macaroni, baked beans, and banana pudding and half pans of coleslaw and potato salad. Pricing was very reasonable and Kelly helped us decide how much of each would be enough, which turned out to be the perfect amount with just enough leftover for us and our gracious hosts. After speaking with Terren the day of pickup we figured out that they’d be in our area right before the event, so they offered to deliver at no extra charge. Kelly’s delivery was prompt, and serving spoons were provided along with instructions for keeping things perfectly warm for eating. My husband and I will travel for good BBQ and we agree that SlowFire is hands down THE best in south Georgia…I’d even venture in Carolina as well. Everything that comes through Terren and Kelly’s kitchen is addictive. The entire party was raving about the food asking where we got it. I was tempted to take the credit for the cooking, but we were so happy to turn everyone on to SlowFire. As a Savannah native I promise you just won’t find better bbq at such reasonable prices with such kind and attentive services anywhere else in the Low Country. We’d rate them 10 stars...
