Though the restaurant aesthetic is nice and the wait staff was absolutely amazing, the food quality, restaurant location, restaurant logistics, wait time, and transparency were found lacking. We typically visit restaurants their opening day/week and return quite regularly as locals, but I think this one may take some time to figure out their stride which I hope they do as long-time patrons of Two Tides, Crispi, Smol Bar, and Float.
The location is prone to flooding which makes the sparse street parking difficult to navigate. There is outside seating however it is two-top tables and very few, not recommended if raining since they are barely covered. Inside, the restaurant is quite spacious as it encompasses two floors. However with the kitchen downstairs, this definitely put an abnormal strain on the wait staff constantly having to run up and down 2 flights of stairs for orders. The atmosphere is beautiful inside with a retro vibe, definitely insta-worthy. The menu is not available on their website so we came in blind to our parties options. The wait time for our food was 1.5-2 hrs and several items were unavailable. When the food did come out, it was at separate times, with our appetizers coming out after some entrees. Unfortunately, the food quality was not up to par and our table didn’t finish any of our appetizers or entrees. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery, hush puppies were dry and bland, and the gray duck butter (although cute idea) was visually very off-putting. The coffee was diner style, not Float quality, but the wait staff kept my cup always full. With many brunch places in Savannah featuring southern staples, the food simply didn’t impress on our first visit.
The wait staff were doing a fantastic job taking care of us. We truly appreciated how attentive they were. Unfortunately, it wasn’t posted anywhere that the restaurant didn’t have their liquor license yet, so where we were used to getting a Two Tides beer while we wait especially on an Two Tides event weekend - that was not an option. The overall experience was very underwhelming after a year-long wait.
Edit: After having several other friends also visit this location and seeing other reviews posted here and on social media, I’ve sadly decided to change my rating and lower it by one star. I hope things can change with this restaurant and the owners take more consideration into what their patrons are saying. The fact that people leave feedback...
Read moreMy wife and I went to here to close out our last day of our 10 year anniversary weekend. Keep in mind, we have never been here and it was a random google find. At first glance, you think it was just an ordinary dinner placed in the middle of a random part of a neighborhood. We were fooled once we walked in. Immediately as you walk in, you sense a southern hospitality old school diner feel that felt at home. Nothing fancy but diner vibes in the south, exceed our expectations. We were beyond impressed at first glance. The nostalgia of southern comfort came in and greeted by warm smiles were so heartwarming. We sat at the second floor where it was even more, of a I would say, a family setting. Looking at a bookcase with something to read, to large windows that had a beautiful sunny overview, to the furniture that completed the look, was genuinely a feel of a family setting venue or genuine aura of being home away from home. I ordered the short rib hash bowl. Man….. oh… man….. it was not only a feast of pure comfort, but bless the chef that created it because it’s a God send! They also have a dill sauce. It was soooo amazing I asked our waiter if they sold it so we can take it home. The waiter chuckled and said “I told chef he should sell it and I’m surprised it’s not for sale right now”. After my wife and I finished our meals and were ready to leave, the waiter came back with a small to go container of the dill sauce for us to bring home. Mind you, the waiter did this on his own behalf without even asking! Being from Boston Massachusetts, just coming to this restaurant alone made me feel like I was back at home with AMAZING food. I want to thank the owner, chef, and wait staff for an amazing experience! I plan to come back even if I have to leave my wife at home. Shhh don’t tell her I said that lol! Keep up the amazing service and beyond this world food....
Read moreI would give this place a second chance based on the food and only the food alone. The short rib hash was excellent. But service was really bad and really slow. And this place wasn’t that busy, it was 2pm. We asked for a booth, there were several clearly clean and available, but the hostess was standoffish and apprehensive about seating us. She finally sat us in a tiny booth. It took a server ten minutes to come over to us, before that he zigzagged past our table numerous times ignoring us. Once he came over, we each ordered a milkshake and asked for waters and he said he would come back with waters, but then he passed our table several more times ignoring us, and finally came back for our food orders still with no waters, so I had to remind him to bring us waters. This alone is a huge strike. Then, our food arrived maybe 10 mins after ordering, very quickly, which is great. But the milkshakes were nowhere to be found. 30 mins after ordering them, and after he zigzagged back and forth more without acknowledging us, he finally brought the milkshakes with a “sorry for the delay” and nothing else. At this point they should have been comped, there’s no excuse for waiting that long for an overpriced milkshake. By this time, we were also done with our food, but he left the dishes. Another server came and grabbed them as she passed by. Our server never asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. No water refills either. Nothing So the food was excellent, milkshakes took 30 mins for some unknown reason, and our server was extremely disappointing and maybe needs more training or just lacks the intuition you need when serving. Hope this place can get the service figured out asap because we’d love to return, but it’s hard to justify spending money somewhere that treats customers like an...
