We live here, wanted to try a new coffee shop before church this past Sunday around 8am. Decided to finally try Perc; we both travel a lot for business and pleasure and have been to hundreds of coffee shops worldwide at this point never having an experience like this one. You'll notice in many other reviews there's a common complaint about sour coffee and it's true. The coffee had a rancid sour like flavor profile. The biggest issue and one that we think ownership needs to investigate is the fact that 45 minutes post breakfast/coffee dine-in, while standing in church, my wife and I both looked at each other at the same exact time as we realized we were feeling unwell. When we spoke about it we had the same symptoms - sweats, chills, light headed, weak feeling, upset stomach. The probability of us both randomly having the same symptoms at the same time are equivalent to winning the lottery. Considering the fact that we hadn't left home the two days prior, we have to assume that either there's a cross contamination issue here or someone is lacing food with something harmful. We had 4 completely different items and yet managed to come down with the same exact symptoms, at the same time, only 45 minutes after eating here. We feel at this point that management should take a hard look at the staff/cameras from this past Sunday morning and also review the expiration on all food here. If not these two being the culprit, perhaps you have roaster contamination. We had lox bagel, abj waffle, flash and she had some condor chocolate iced drink. Unfortunately, we...
Read moreWife and I took a tour of the business last week, and were pleasantly surprised with the welcome we received. The owner, Phillip, greeted us and when we told him we were there by another customer's recommendation, he gave us a tour of the facility, and spoke at length about the business, how he started, start to finish from buying to roasting, and provided so much insight on responsible and ethical business practices. We were outright impressed by his enthusiasm, and welcoming personality.
He explained all the different roasts they had, and allowed us to smell each as he explained the different flavor notes and nuances. I was not a coffee drinker until I tried PERC. If you have only had Starbucks, Folgers, and such...you need to expand out. I still cannot drink any of the big brand coffees.
Recommendations: The Columbian is simply amazing. There is a strong flavor of caramel and molasses, with a milky mouthfeel. My absolute favorite would be the Ethiopian Adado. It is fruity, light, and for any first-time "real coffee" drinkers, this is your gateway drug. I cannot emphasize enough how Phillip and his business has rocked my world! They are expanding their distribution, however, they welcome anybody to come to their business to meet them, and buy a bag of their...
Read moreWe were in savannah for 4 days this weekend and of all the things we saw-perc was our favorite. We tend to enjoy trying different coffee roasters when we visit other cities but we came to Perc every day that we were here. We took home beans, merch & brought everyone that we met on our trip. Mike & Bec specifically made our trip so great. Even during major high volume moments, we always felt in good vibes. The breakfast club is one of the yummiest lattes I’ve ever had. Def gonna write about it in my diary. The happy camper was really good and chocolaty. The morning jacket was great! We weren’t fans of the cold fashioned but the staff was so nice and helpful when they found out. I didn’t get the names of the two folks who helped us on our first day but it felt so nice to not feel like we were bothering anyone or annoying them on a busy Sunday, because they really wanted us to have a drink we enjoyed. The only note I’d make is that even when communicating “for here”, cortados & cappuccino came out in paper cups. We wanted to enjoy these & not rush them. I can’t wait to come back! Until then, we’ll enjoy our bags of Brazil beans & pretend...
