When I tell you that this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the Chicagoland area, I mean it. Upon walking into the restaurant, I was a bit skeptical at first. The inside of the restaurant is not lavishly decorated, but rather it is minimalistic and spaciously adorned. We’ve been to this restaurant three times now, and every time we go we are greeted with smiling faces. The front staff is extremely friendly and kind. To be honest, it doesn’t even feel like we’re walking into a restaurant. It feels like we are walking into someone’s home and are being treated with the utmost respect and admiration. I really appreciate the home-y feel this restaurant has. Additionally, Kumar is very accommodating towards our requests, and we greatly appreciate him!
We ordered three dishes our last visit: saag paneer, paneer butter masala, and butter chicken. As a North Indian, we take these dishes quite seriously. When I tell you these dishes were ridiculously finger-licking good. The dishes were perfectly spiced, and the curries weren’t too thick. We personally love this because overly thick curries tend to coat your mouth and make you feel a bit sick. These curries were the perfect consistency and it felt like we were eating something light but decadent at the same time. At one point, my family and I were fighting to see who could have the last serving of the curries. The dishes were also served with rice, which was packed into a bowl. Each of the curries was served plentifully as well. They do not skimp out on portions and give you your money’s worth, which not a lot of restaurants around the area do. Again, this just added to the home-y experience. Last time we ordered masala dosa, which was perfectly crispy and perfumed with rich ghee aromas. There was an excellent amount of potato filling. The sambar was beautifully spiced as well as the chutneys.
Now would I visit again? Absolutely. I’m so happy that my family and I were able to find a staple Indian restaurant that we could go to whenever we are craving authentic Indian food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful, and you truly feel like you’ve transported to India. The home-y-ness and kindness of the staff truly make the experience even better, on top of the delicious food. This restaurant is a bit of a drive for us, around an hour, but we don’t mind because the food is just that dang good. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great service...
Read moreWe really had bad experience at Priya restaurant, we travelled like 20 miles to get here. I have called restaurant guys and enquired is it fine to come at 2.30 for buffet, he said absolutely fine you can come even by 2.45pm. We reached at 2.40pm and we haven't finished half of our lunch, he started taking stuff out of buffet. We were 2 families sitting there said like that's also fine and took some deserts and food kept on table. He brought some extra dosas(we said need only 2) and kept on table. We couldn't finish that stuff on table, since we were last people and didn't have intention to eat food at all since the guys were cleaning and waiting on us. I enquired like there are like half of desert or dosas you would be wasting/throwing up we could take parcel of desert was about to say I even pay for parcel bags in spite of wasting food. The server was so rude and started saying like people were taking too much advantage and all, we went there for first time that too got in at 2.40pm. At least if your are working at restaurant he should say I will enquire with owner or say its not possible. There was no seafood at all in buffet, that chicken and goat meat or veg are just fine like other buffet. The desserts were also not so great. I would never go there again, if some body is travelling from too far to eat in Priya rest't. I would say do not go that far it's not really worth it, better try at your local buffet's first, and price for buffet is expensive as well for the...
Read moreMe and my brother stepped out to buy provisions needed at home to cook. Then a thought hit me that I we were craving south Indian meals /thali but my brother is very particular about his spices so I started to search for a restaurant cause let it be any of these udipis or purna’s though they are good in there own way but then South Indian meals needs its spices in right proportion so we tried to test a restaurant because when we called in the owner spoke so welcoming and was so assuring that food will be awesome. So we drove to the restaurant to get surprised we order a south Indian thali it took them few mins but everything was worth it. Finally I tasted a sambar which took me back home to chennai. Dishes were limited like we had chetinad chicken, sambar, rasam and curd with gulab jamun. Everything tasted amazing rice was little hard but rice here is generally the same way everywhere. After chicken which tasted amazing I moved to parupu podi which was like little too salty but still tasty , then came the sambar at which was simply awesome and finish touch by rasam which was a bliss . The gulab jamun felt like they were made in house which were so soft I am definitely saving this location as my fav South Indian restaurant in Schaumburg till now. 26th jun 2022. Would recommend them to all south Indian meal lovers please visit them and check it out...
