Problems with to go orders (Nacho's) four different times during the year 2019. The last time was the last week of 12/2019, days before Christmas .When I purchased the order/orders of Nachos, they only put a topping layer (cheese and meat) on the top of the chips only (not layered as requested) in alumina pan. I could do that at home myself. However when I placed the order, I wanted to make sure it was done the same way as if it was not a to go order (you will not experience this) if you eat in the restaurant. and was told it would be the same in being layered and it never happened.
The restaurant used to be one of the best places to go to, now it is one of of the worst places to eat in or purchases food from, not consistent with the portion sizes, quality and cleanness in serving. They cater to a younger age group and has no patience for older people. It actually seems like they discriminate against older people in how they treat them in regards to the service. When ordering food, if they make a mistake (repeatedly, time after time you continue to give them the opportunity to correct the mistake, it gets worst) they never give full credit for orders that they made a mistake on,they do not fix the replacement order as requested properly when given the chance to correct the issue and then the young managers that are on duty, talks to you as thou you are stupid when you try to give the business a chance to correct the order that they made a mistake on to begin with (and you only get a partial credit for a incorrect order and less quantity in portions and quality of food when an incorrect order is replaced) and it doesn't matter how they inconvenienced you.
Also, i noticed when I had a carry out order that the cooks put the food on the counter, there have been times when I have seen it slammed down on the counter (in the food pick up area) and then seen the waitresses pick up what fell off the plate (onto the counter) with their hands and put it back on the plate before bringing it out to serve to a customer. the waitresses or servers hands are not that sanitized in touching the food , that is unsanitary. This review will not mean anything to the owner/manager because they have a "I don't care attitude" and are not so nice when you let them know there was a mistake made from the first order, which was not corrected on the replacement order, that is worse than the first order.
However, it is rude that customers are allowed to smoke right at the door when you come into the restaurant and the smoke fog hits you in the face/nose which is unhealthy especially for someone with health issues such as asthma and etc. or even someone with children. To my understanding and experience going to other businesses, the ilinois states that a business owner is to enforce the smoking laws (checking outside, every so often) making sure that a sign is posted stating regulations that requires you to be so many feet from the main entrance/door.
Usually, when a business grows and becomes larger and expands, look to experience the quantity and quality of the place to get worst, which apparently they think is something that helped them rise to the top, they become too big with their "I don't care" attitude. I recommend going somewhere other than this restaurant, especially when you are going to be taken advantage of due...
Read moreCame here on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the neighborhood and glad we decided to try it. It is definitely a local place, but felt very welcome and comfortable. They have bar and table seating available. It is a great place to watch a game too as they have TV’s all over.
In regards to the pandemic, mask are required to enter, all staff had on mask, social distancing was in place and each table had hand sanitizer available. Also, during our visit we did see them disinfectant a table.
For food, they are known for their chicken fingers, but each dish we had was good. The chicken tenders were battered light, fluffy and buttery and their honey mustard was delicious. They do have different sauces available, but our friend recommended their honey mustard. We shared this as an appetizer, the dish is 6 pieces.
For entrees, my boyfriend ordered their full slab of ribs which was a special (on a Saturday). I am personally not a rib person, but these were so good! I actually recommend these over the chicken fingers to be honest. They were cooked perfectly! Charred outside and so soft it came off the bone. I would have preferred more barbecue sauce, but I don’t mind to get a little messy. The ribs came with a choice of soup or salad and we tried their chicken and rice soup which was a broth and this was so good too! We weren’t sure what to expect since we are use to creamy rice chicken soup. I ordered a BLT sandwich which was tasty. I know super basic just a BLT, but they do not skimp on the bacon and the bacon was cooked perfectly and had flavor.
Our waitress was so great! She was very friendly and kept checking on us. She was on top of our refills and before we received the ribs, she brought us a basket for the bones, extra napkins, and wet wipes. I’m not sure if this is something that they normally do or if she just did that, either way we appreciated it!
I recommend to stop by if you are in the area or craving good...
Read moreThis review is based on my past three visits to VTG. Before 2021 I visited there at least once a month and we always had a great time. Sometime in 2021, something changed at the establishment. For some reason they took down their decorations, which would not have been a big deal, but it showed a change at the establishment. Their prices almost doubled. Chicken fingers now cost almost $20 and nachos cost over $20, even without any meat. The prices would be acceptable if the food was still good, but the fish I got during my last visit was crumbly because it has been keep in oil too long. I was pretty gross. Even worse than the new atmosphere and prices has been the service. My family has only got here three times over the past three years because each time we have gone they have been understaffed, and that has led to very slow service. It's been years of this now, so it has to be by design by management in order to save a few bucks at the cost to customer's time. This past time I went, on Wednesday, October 30th, the fire alarm went off during dinner. Nobody from the staff came out to tell the customers if this was an emergency, or something we could ignore. Some people ran to the door while others sat and ate with an alarm going off. After about 5 minutes, or waitress came to us and told us there was nothing to worry about, all while alarm bells were blaring. This of course made our dinner take even longer, and the fire alarm was very annoying to deal with. The fact that no manager came out to apologize to us during the rest of the meal let me know what sort of establishment this has become. I'm sorry to report that this restaurant is not what it used to be, and is probably not worth visiting anymore. In my experience, the food and service has been better down the road at Pilot Pete's for similar dishes, so I will be going there from now on when I'm in the mood for...
