DEFINITELY COMING BACK!! Soooooo good. It is a little pricy compared to most of the Mexican restaurants in the area, but I feel like the flavor, atmosphere and service makes up for it. We started off with some Queso Fundido with chorizo and it did not dissapoint at all from the flavor standpoint. The size was a bit small given the price, but there was loads of flavor it was served with a sauce that was phenomenal. I would gladly buy that sauce by the bottle if it was available. Being the first thing we ate, this is where we were able to taste their house made, fresh pressed corn tortillas. I'm always a corn Tortilla fan, but the wife, not so much. She loved them. These were the best corn tortillas I've had. Its crazy how much better they are when they're fresh made and not store bought.
Flavor of the month is cranberry and after given the drink options centered around that, we decided on cranberry margaritas, and that was definetely a great decision. The presentation was on point and the flavors were perfect. The cranberry definitely complimented the tequila and created something more of a cocktail than a simple, typical mexican restaurant margaritta. We both had 2 because they were so good. (These should be a standard menu item because they're that good)
Moving onto dinner, my wife got the shrimp enchiladas. Loads of green sauce that was delicious and the enchiladas were filled with perfectly seasoned and cooked shrimp. Served with rice and beans, it was definitely a good dish. They use the more traditional black refried beans, which were quite tasty to me.... my wife prefers the brown beans, so not a huge hit on her end, but she was still pleased. The rice was perfectly cooked but couldve used a bit more spice. However, it was still good. I got the Mariscada (holy amazing) lol. The fish, octopus, etc was all seasoned and grilled perfectly. The avacado slaw was a great addition to the Mariscada taco filling (More of those phenomenal corn tortillas included!) We are excited to spread the word and head back there very soon. Asada has always been one of our fav go to Mexican restaurants in the area, but this has far surpassed it in flavor and will become our go to for local Mexican.
Tables were very neatly set and clean. The decor was simple and classy. The waitress was very personable and checked on us frequently to make sure everything was good. The food was served very fast, hot and fresh. The second round of drinks took a bit long considering how few of customers were there, but still within an acceptable time. I would give service a 4.8 because of that but unfortunately you can't break down the scores like that. Over all, phenomenal flavors, classy joint, great service. I hope this place becomes more popular as I feel like most are missing out on this hidden gem. We will be back again for sure and will be telling...
Read moreThe idea of an upscale Mexican restaurant is appealing. I envisioned excellent food without the loud atmosphere that some places have. So we were eager to enjoy this place. Sadly it just wasn’t that good. A wartime ration of chips was brought to our table.initially. You have to buy the salsas. They have several options at $12 per each 1/3 cup serving. We got three because the trio was buy 2 get 1. Also ordered an upscale guacamole and a queso. Eventually we were able to procure additional chips to go with the guac which I was eating with a fork because we had eaten those initial 10 chips before we ordered. $20 for three small steak tacos and $28 for chicken enchiladas would be fine if they were something special. The tacos were good but no different than the competition. The chicken enchiladas were a disappointment. Ironically a ramekin of house salsa that came with something we ordered was better than the twenty four dollar trio. The desert menu looks good but after my entree, I was over it. To be fair I took my mango salsa home and the next day it was very tasty. I think it was freshly made and needed time for the flavors to blend. I thought the queso appetizer was quite good. So overall $110 for two people, no cocktails. (They had a little sign stating there was a temporary pause in alcohol service and diners would get a 10% discount. They didn’t remember to give us that.) When the check came we were just ready to get out of there so we added an 18 % tip because the server was nice and judging from her confusion over the orders was probably new. Then we noticed that they put a 15% gratuity on all orders without mentioning anything about that to give customers a heads up. Annoying but my fault for not reading the bill, right? So I think this place is aiming for something that in my opinion it isn’t reaching. The problem is that in this area there is a Mexican restaurant on every corner and many of them make fantastic food and sell it at value price points. I wish them well but for us if an establishment charges 50 % more than the competition, the food should be at least as good as the competition. We’ve spent upwards of $150 on meals many times and left looking forward to a return. This just wasn’t one of those times. The atmosphere, generic modern with Eiffel Tower prints on the walls and amorphous sculptures on display is not enough to bring us back anytime soon. Next time maybe just a cocktail and a dessert after we eat...
Read moreSo overall I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised. They over exceeded our expectations.
The atmosphere is really nice, if you’ve been there before like we have, you’ll notice the changes and how much they improved it.
The food was excellent from top to bottom. We ordered the Queso Fundido to start. The chorizo was delicious and the freshly made tortillas really complimented that appetizer.
As for our entrees, we initially went in to try their tacos, especially since they had 50% OFF for Taco Tuesday, but after looking at the menu we had other meals that attracted us. My wife had the Carne Asada with Charro beans. Her plate had a very generous portion of steak cooked to perfection. It’s not like the thin sliced Carne Asada you normally see at restaurants, this was a thick juicy portion that was very filling.
I had the Mariscada, it’s grilled calamari, octopus, and shrimp sautéed with a delicious habanero sauce, topped with a slaw, that all combined was out of this world. It came with 5 tortillas so you can make your own tacos with it, and let me tell you it was extremely filling.
Our drinks were all on point. I had the mojito to start and ended with a paloma. My wife stayed with the golden margarita which she enjoyed.
Then we finished off with the tres leches pina colada dessert. That was the cherry on top! It was delicious.
The service there was phenomenal. They make you feel like family and you can tell the owners are very passionate about what they are doing. I can’t speak enough on how well we were treated! I love when I go and ask for a recommendation and they can actually give you one with the upmost confidence that what they are recommending is delicious.
This is a place we will definitely go back to and I highly recommend that you try as well. It’s not your typical Mexican restaurant, this is a bit more upscale but you are paying for quality here, so if you go in with that mind set you too will have a wonderful experience. It’s a must try and I’m glad...
