I would like to start with my Wife and I truly LOVED this restaurant, we would come in 1-3 times per week, could not get enough! We loved it so much we decided to celebrate my Wife's 40th birthday party with our closest friends and family. We spoke to both owners about our group coming in to celebrate to ensure the restaurant would be properly staffed and could accommodate our group of roughly 20 people. Both owners ensured us there would be no issues.
From the moment our group arrived we were met with rude and disgruntled servers, almost as if they were annoyed we actually showed up to our reservation. We where then ignored for roughly 20-30 mins by staff until someone at our party got up and asked the servers to order drinks and food.
Our group ordered 1 round of drinks which only half our group actually recieved. When we asked the servers where the rest of the groups drinks where we were told we had been 'cut off' for being to loud and obnoxious. Keep in mind this was for my Wife's 40th birthday party, everyone in our group are parents, they are all respectful and responsible, we are all a long ways removed from the days of being obnoxious! Also I do not even drink alcohol so to cut off my group off for being obnoxious when I myself don't even drink was shameful on Dilla Libre part, SHAMEFUL!!
Our group was told we were cut off because others in the restaurant where complaining, which was absolutely not truthful and the gentlemen (Joshua M.) who's 5 star review mentions the night our group was there is either an employee of the establishment or a friend.
I've never in my life been treated with such disrespect, disregard and ultimately humiliated in front of friends and family. For weeks leading up to my Wife's party we would praise Dilla Libre to everyone, we couldn't wait to bring our people to this new incredible spot. Unfortunately now we will be doing the exact opposite and sharing our experience of this night with anyone and everyone who will listen.
My advice to the owners who I genuinely liked is to get new staff!! Your wait staff has always been your weak link, especially Estevan! I am not saying this to be little Estevan but he just does not represent your establishment well, he is often times rude, standoffish and is just not good at managing multiple tables in a restaurant.
In closing I just want to say I am saddened to be writing this as we were truly your biggest fans. My only hope is you sincerely read the words I have written and make better decisions when it comes to staff, when it comes to how you treat patrons. Unfortunately for us we will never again spend our family's money at any of your business establishments and will advise any others to...
Read moreIt’s very unfortunate to have to give Dilla Libre a 1 star because when I discovered throw place for the first time we had ordered takeout and thought the food was good and told all of our friends about it. One of my friends and her husband met the owner liked the food so much she decided she wanted to bring her 12 closes friends to experience the food and celebrate her 40th birthday. They arranged a reservation through the owner for a party of 12.
We showed up last night a Saturday evening roughly around 7:30pm and were treated like we were inconveniencing the staff. We had two tables and for some reason the women working took one tables orders and then ignored the other. We made them aware of the situation and a male server came over and finally took their order. One of my friends said to the waiter my husband ordered a margarita and didn’t receive it, the server quickly snapped and said we aren’t serving you guys you’re being too rowdy!!! We were all shocked and didn’t understand what was going on.
I pulled the server aside and asked him why they were treating us like they didn’t want our business? I explained how rude the female server was and that the other table didn’t even get to order when our table ordered and at this point one table had food and the other didn’t. He said we were too rowdy, I turned and pointed at the tables were each person was in conversation enjoying themselves, laughing, drinking, eating which is what the point is of going to a restaurant. He still refused to serve us.
I told him how now this is the second time I have went in there and been treated poorly and how I was so embarrassed because it was me who recommended this restaurant and raved about. I explained I came in 2 weeks ago with my entire family of 10 because my father was in town and visiting all the grandkids. We walked in at 8:00pm on Saturday evening the same lady with the tattoos said she would serve us we could take out. I asked why her response was they close at 8:45pm. I was like we can be in and out really quick, I just made my whole family drive here from west Phoenix to come here. It was a hard NO. So we left..... and now this treatment??
Long story short this restaurant is small it’s a terrible location especially with the construction right now and the people that work their have ruined it for 12 people who will never go backs. Plus the people they tell. For a small business you would think they would welcome the business but clearly they are so arrogant they get to pick and choose how they treat people.
I will never go back to this place or recommend...
Read moreThis is a cute little shop in Scottsdale that feels like something you'd find on a boardwalk in Cali. Very nice and helpful staff, great aesthetic, the only real issue with this place, unfortunately, is the food.
I started my meal with the cauliflower wings which, admittedly, we're absolutely delicious. Crispy on the outside and cooked through all the way, something that many restaurants miss the mark on resulting in batter filled bombs. I was actually so elated at the quality of the wings and their salsa that I was saying to my wife before the rest of the meal even came that it was probably going to be one of my more highly ranked stops in the valley - lesson learned about waiting before I speak. Below is my take on the few other items we got.
As a note, everything ordered was off of their vegan menu.
Habanero salsa - tasted like lunchables pizza sauce with a little kick.
Vegan nacho cheese - tasted like they used vegan chicken bullion in the flavoring which was really unpleasant. The forward flavor of chicken salt was followed through with tumeric and carrot, rather disappointing considering how many great recipes there are out there for vegan nacho cheese, this left me feeling like I was eating at a vegan market back in 2015.
2x California quesadilla - This dish was bad on every front. Flavor was like feet with notes of beef popping up here and there. The texture was all one level, completely mush all the way through. The plating was horrendous as well, the quesadilla was cut in half and stacked but was so overfilled that you couldn't lift it to actually eat it without it falling apart.
Black beans - if you didn't know we were in a desert before just take one bite of these beans and you'll be reminded of it as you rush to find the nearest glass of water for some relief. The flavor overall was fine, but the texture was like a less smooth peanut butter. Definitely not what I want from my beans.
Rice - no flavor at all. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if I went back and found packets of minute rice.
I paid roughly $70 for these few items. Now, as a chef and a food lover, I don't mind paying that for my meals but in this economy if I am paying that I'd expect the quality to be a little higher than what is being offered here.
Overall, again, the staff is awesome and I think the place has huge potential but someone has to get into that kitchen ASAP to put some flavor, texture, and thought into...
