A group of us came in from Terravita. We are all owners year-round. We walked in and the receptionist said you have a reservations kind of rude and abrupt. We said no we just wanted to take a peek, she was like interrogating us. Like it was crowded. When we walked in there was nobody even in there Unbelievable you need to hire mature people. These young teenagers don’t get it ….the food should be served on plates not plastic plates, the plastic forks tacky for such a classy place. Service was ok, the bartender was rude could be friendly. The food is almost as good as Keeler’s kick it up a notch and you’ll get more people. Your front desk person is the first person that’s going to meet and greet everybody. They should have a great personality. Very excited to see people coming in stand up immediately, instead of sitting behind the desk. Say come on in and have a drink. It’s happy hour right now, intrigue people up sell…figure it out…. This place has potential you just have to have the right kind of people working it look how great liberty station does and Keelers this can happen here if you have the right staff...
Read morePoppy's office is a speakeasy dedicated to the late restauranteur, Paul Keeler, by his children. Located next to Liberty Station on Scottsdale rd just south of Carefree, there is a single door and lamp to lead the way. You'll enter a small office and sneak back into the library and bar.
There's just something about a dark speakeasy that makes me want an Old Fashioned. In Poppy's Office it's called Something Brown, made with a whistlepig, and it's real nice. Also, if lychee is on the menu, my husband and I are trying it... so Lychee On Me was a good choice as well.
We didn't try any food so...darn it...I guess we'll have to go back. I did check out the restroom, of course, and was not disappointed. I also zoned in on some of the books on the sheriff's shelves and was surprised at the choices. Blindside and The Matthew Shepherd story were shelved by us and I have to wonder if they were chosen for a reason... interesting.
It's a great speakeasy that you...
Read moreWe decided to go here on 1/5. Found out we needed a reservation (it was 4 pm and the place was empty) asked if we could sit at the bar told we needed reservations the bar was also empty. Was told it would be packed by 5. So we made a reservation at 6 and paid attention to people coming in and out and guess what… still empty!! A REAL speakeasy allows patrons to stand at the bar (again the bar was empty) and have a drink this place doesn’t allow this either. Only allowed to have table for 1.5 hours we stayed until 9:30 because you guessed it the place was practically empty. The sister restaurant next door was the same way with lack of patrons. I’m pretty sure it has to do with the lack of customer service. We won’t be back and anyone looking to go here I’m not sure what “experience” they were referring to but it’s just a bar and it’s not even decorated like a speakeasy. Don’t waste your time go to the white rabbit if you want to better and...
