Pure Sushi — Restaurant in Scottsdale

The first time I ever went to Pure Sushi it was an Pure disappointment; from really cramped seating arrangements to getting our order wrong twice to also waiting an additional 30 minutes before we actually got the order right. Even when we got our overpriced sushi, it wasn't good at all. Regardless of its first shortcomings however, we decided to give it a second chance but that was a mistake. I decided to make a reservation 30 minutes in advanced (requesting a half-booth)and we arrived on time to half-booths available and we were told that our table wasn't ready; ok I'll play along and wait outside. After 25 minutes of waiting after we arrived we were told that the booth was ready and we could be seated; but the thing is the same tables were ready even when we arrived before waiting. I then requested that we be seated at a half table against the wall (that was just emptied from previous patrons) and please tell me when it's ready and I proceeded to wait again outside. Soon after the manager approached the hostesses (who looked to be barely out of highschool) then pointed to me and my date outside while staring us up and down. At that point we just said forget this place and left.

I'm glad that Pei Wei was still open late.

We go to this restaurant often, more here than any other place in town. But that's about to change. On our most recent visit, August 4, there were only three other tables busy. There were 3 of us at the table, on a slow night. My wife's meal came out immediately. My friend's sushi roll came out after she had finished. My sushi roll still hadn't made it out when my friend was done eating his dinner. I got up and tracked down my server and cancelled my meal and we left. The time before that my wife and I were at the bar for happy hour. Two men were next to her, in their late 50's. Their language would embarrass a sailor on shore leave. They were dropping F-bombs with regularity, loud enough for the people outside to hear. I called the manager over to request he speak to them about lowering their voice and to clean up their language. He said "Oh, they're regulars. They're here every Friday and should be leaving soon. The food at this restaurant was excellent! I cannot say the same for our server. My boyfriend and I were seated outside in the corner of the patio. We would specify the servers name but she did not introduce herself. She was very rude and had an unkind and unwelcoming demeanor. We noticed the other servers at the tables around us were very attentive, checked in frequently, and had friendly conversation with the customers. Our server visited our table maybe two times during the entire experience. Our appetizers came out halfway through our main course meal. Our server did not bring out our food herself, nor did she provide refills, as we had to ask a host to refill our drink after it sat empty for quite some time. We received no apology or acknowledgment from our server about the delay in our appetizers.
