This is the highest rated restaurant I've visited and they earned every star! I've learned that a lot of great restaurants are oddly in small strip malls ( usually anchored by a Safeway 🤣). Outside of the building is blank minus the Randy's sign. When you walk in,it's like walking into an episode of diners,drive-ins and dives. No stop hustle, restaurant is packed and the smells hit you. You also notice that you might have traveled back in time. 80s/90s colors, tones surround you. Teal tabletops, southwest mauve seating and medium ash wood throughout. Half of the crowd is senior citizens, so throw in some members only jackets, thick old school frames and vintage Levis....a blast from the past. Friday, Saturday and Sunday ( and dinner) wait times can be a while. We visited on a Wednesday, wait times were estimated up to 15 minutes. When we walked in we were seated within 15 seconds 🙌. The staff was moving, so interactions are brief. After 2 minutes our waitress stopped by for our drinks order and menus. 1 minute later she stopped by with the drinks and we gave her the order. Within 3 minutes our food was ready. THIS IS THE FASTEST MEAL SERVICE WE HAVE EVER HAD! 🤯🤯🤯 Today we both tried individual versions of the Randy's breakfast. For only $11 bucks you get a short stack, 2 eggs,2 strips of bacon and 2 sausage links. For $1 more you can upgrade to a waffle, grain cakes, french toast, blueberry, banana or chocolate chip cakes in place of short stack. Bacon was great, sausage was mild and eggs were tasty. The hash browns were soft on the inside and extra crispy on the outside. The French toast and short stack took me back to memories as a kid. This is a great old school restaurant. Reminder it's cash and check only,NO CARDS.

Whenever my father comes to town for a visit, it I s just not complete without a meal at Randy’s. He used to live across the street and frequent it weekly. We sat outside. Our server Tara was so friendly & nice. They now use tablets for the orders. We ordered a chef salad, a turkey cranberry sandwich with fries, a couple salad & sandwich combos, a slice of corn bread, a McCormick ranch melt with soup and ice cream for dessert. The meals came out at different times, they ran out of Italian wedding soup but didn’t tell us until after some of us received our entrees and there was some confusion with salad dressings and ice cream flavors but the staff was so nice and apologetic. It might be a learning curve with the tablets. We noticed you can now pay online with a credit card which is a nice option since they were always cash only. It is still quite busy. We live in North Scottsdale so it is not very convenient for us but we will be back when my father visits again.

Have you ever had someone hype up a restaurant to you, just for it to be like almost every other run-of-the-mill diner you've ever been to? Yeah, that's this place. Not bad, but literally nothing special. Totally average food, with perhaps slightly above average service. I'm not trying to hate on this place because I wanted to like it, I was just so totally underwhelmed when I went. The hash browns were not crispy at all, the bacon was straight middle of the road and the waffles w/ Aunt J's were definitely nothing to write home about. I ask for eggs over medium because it's a simple test, they came out over easy of course. With all this said it is not bad food, just not as good as everyone hypes it up to be, in my opinion. When you factor in the cash only aspect it boggles me this place does as well as it does. The fact that everyone seems to love it while it is so absolutely average makes me lose faith in society a teeny bit. This place is totally a front

I am unsure how this restaurant has received so many high scored reviews.

The restaurant is sorely outdated. The tables and seats are well worn and show that it hasn't been fully updated since the late 90's. The specials were written on a white board above our table next to a huge photo is Havasupai Falls. The rest of the dining area was the same.

The menu is very similar to what you will find at Denny's, IHOP or Village Inn...all at slightly higher prices.

The selection of dishes is huge and the kitchen is truly, "jack of all trades, master of none." I ordered Chicken Fried Steak. The patty itself was fine, but the brown gravy I requested seemed to be Campbell's recipe and came with canned green beans to boot. My mother ordered sliders which had nice burgers but was served only with onions...no other toppings. Other dishes were similarly made from what could be described as "canned" food and we were only impressed with a burger made without the bun (at our request).

We ordered pie and ice cream only to discover as we paid the cashier that the ice cream is Dreyer's brand.

It appears the kitchen is good with assembling premade meals. Which might be okay if it didn't run about $13 per person.

Lastly, they take only cash or check. We were unsurprised by this since we had discussed that the clientele on a Friday night at 7PM consisted of almost exclusively elderly customers. The food, atmosphere and means of paying may be popular with them but I would recommend visiting any of the nearby better eateries instead.

P.S. this place is NOT "kid-friendly" anymore than other low...

Normally love to keep gems to myself but this place deserves your business and support. Great mixture of veteran, no nonsense, friendly servers; younger, friendly folks learning the ropes at the registers and expo; and a solid presence of managers overlooking (I’ve seen the same fella there every single time. He gets in the game with his staff and always seems happy, but purposeful.) As for the food, it’s as good and better than you could ask for, and resembles the home cooked food I remember eating growing up at (almost) the same prices. Great portions, the cooks handle their business with efficiency and quality and this place can get busy so even more kudos to them. They take cash or checks. This is CLEARLY passed onto the customers and any business owner who has paid those sky high Visa/MC processing fees can understand this decision. It’s not just for the business (there’s lots of benefits to partnering with a CC company), it seems to me that this is to keep their prices lower. This helps cater to their older customers, who they seem to cherish and foster regulars the way old diners used to. Both managers and their servers deserve credit for creating such an awesome environment and making a business decision that favors BOTH the customers and business. Food costs are razor thin these days, they could easily charge more but they don’t.

There’s tons of places with DJs, Bloody Mary bars with 700 ingredients and cheesy server spiels… this place is not that. Simple, wholesome food and service… and a place you can feel good giving your money to. Support them!!

Keep up the...
