Thai Basil Signature Scottsdale — Restaurant in Scottsdale

We wanted to make reservation time for 6 or 7 PM. We were told to come in at 5 PM, as this would be the time with the least amount of customers and would get the best service for our party of 8. The restaurant was 25% full. But with serving the other people, and trying to maintain take out. There was only one chef, and one server. I am not kidding. We got one dish every 5 to 10 minutes apart. By the time one person was nearly finishing the dish, the next dish was placed on the table. We were there nearly an hour before the final dish was placed. And it was cold. They had to remake it because this person waa a vegan. And they had used chicken. So the plate came back cold. They told us they would charge 50%. If I was restaurant owner I would have just given the dinner for free. It was barely touched. And was not taken home. They kept trying to push the rest of the plate as it take home, so it wouldn’t go to waste. On top of it, we had two separate families of four, and they put the bill as one bill, instead of two, so they can instantly charge 18% for extremely poor service. And to put icing on the cake, they charge a 3% surcharge if you use credit card to pay the bill. We try all kinds of Thai restaurants. And this one really doesn’t stand out in the least as far as flavor. We had to add hot sauce to just about everything to resemble Thai food. Do yourself a favor, and try somewhere else, and increase your odds of having a better...

Food: I am a regular and have had most of their menu - you cannot go wrong, everything is good. HOWEVER I'd recommend one NOT on the menu: Pho! They have a great Beef Pho (get the Beef, not any other variation is my recommendation) by request. It is by default fairly mild, so I order medium hot to hot, along with the tray of spices. Although 'soup' the portion is large enough to fill me for lunch.

Decor: Average; no fault to theirs but they are in a strip mall so don't have a lot to work with. Several low volume TV's to catch afternoon news or game highlights.

Service: This is a sit down-style restaurant (previous owner was "order and carry, pseudo self service", and the change confused everyone is seems). Service historically ranged from excellent to slow, depending on how busy they are, but all my recent experiences have been excellent. Lately I often go in the 'off' times (ie: 1:30 late lunch) and then the service is regularly prompt, attentive and excellent (but they are also not very busy at that time typically).

Misc: If you are still hungry or you put too much 'hot' in your Pho, there is awesome Gelato (That's Amore)...

The absolute WORST..... do not waste your time or money here. This has happened twice now where we have placed an order for a beef dish as take out, we get home and discover that it’s a completely different dish with chicken. When we phoned back to try to get our dish corrected, they didn’t even apologize and said there would be an up charge.... even though they have inconvenienced us as a family with not being able to eat together so one of us could go and pick up the correct order, wasting time and gas, and they tried to charge an extra $2 for this when they should have just replaced it and given us what we ordered originally. This is the second time this has happened and we will NOT be eating here again - the customer service is diabolical. Fed up of getting the wrong food after ordering for take out. We will find a much better Thai restaurant than these clowns. Do not bother or waste your time with...
