Used to be one of our local favs. But quality has declined. Love the new neon Glider sign! And the waitress we ended up with was great.
However, the dining room decor needs a major update. Tables are crammed together so you can barely move between them, and there's no privacy. Every time any of the doors open, an icy blast flows through the main dining room--as in it fluttered all the napkins and actually blew our hair in our faces. Wanting to be accommodating on a busy day after Christmas, we tried to hang in there. But we were freezing and couldn't relax bc we were dreading each new customer's entrance.
Our original waitress was not helpful and seemed annoyed that we wanted to enjoy our meal in relative warmth and comfort. She offered no sympathy or help in relocating us. Still, we opted to move into a side room out of the way of the wind tunnel, squeezing our family of 6 into a small corner table.
We ordered breakfasts. Good coffee. We shared a wonderful grilled cinnamon roll and stuffed blueberry French toast. The whipped cream and cream cheese topping on the French toast was generous and delicious. (The blueberries were tiny and sparse.) My spinach omelet was dry and bland. My husband's breakfast included abundant bacon, and our son said that the sausage was tasty. Our daughter's choc chip pancakes had no choc chips in them; they were scattered over the top of the pancakes. The overall quality of our food was ok, but it was a long time coming to the table.
Also, we were so close to our dining neighbors (who were enjoying themselves in loud conversation) that we could barely hear ourselves speaking to one another. And a diner seated on our other side was more like a guest at our table. She was turned sideways and felt free to join in our table talk. This would have been kind of fun and interesting. But we were feeling so claustrophobic and tossed about that it...
Read moreMan this place went downhill in the last decade. It used to be on point! Today we were sat immediately the dining room was less then half full. It took about 20 minutes to have our drink orders taken. Party of three btw. Then a good 15 minutes until a very short obviously disgruntled server brought out our three waters and my cup of coffee, took our food orders and then slammed a root beer float infront of one of us. My froend ordered a piece of cake, tge server asked me what kind of cake they had i said i had no idea, it was confusing for sure. Then she said shed have to find out and let my friend know, she returned a while later with a pathetic side salad with the veggies cut enourmous and a piece of coconut creme cake covered in immitation whip creme with no explanation on what sort of cake they were serving. Then after about 30 more minutes our food came out finally. My roast beef was bland and the side pickles on my wifes sandwich were hot which i lnow as a professional cook is a clear indicayor that our food was under a heat lamp for a good long while. Then i had to play hide and seek to pay my bill and leave still very thirsty as nome of the beverages were ever refilled. It eould take a real lot of pursuading to get me to return wich is a damn shame because the Glider has been one of my favorite places...
Read moreWe got the open face roast beef sandwiches as takeout. We’re both quarantined due to having covid. A friend of mine dropped off the dinners at my house. The potatoes were cold and the roast beef was just shoved over to the corner with no bread. The reason we got the meal was because it was an open faced sandwich. I quickly called the store and was told to wait an hour for the manager to come in. We were starving so we ate the food although disappointed. Once I called the manager she was rude and talked over me. She automatically assumed I wanted a full refund and said no refunds would be given for missing bread. What really astonished me was that she actually asked if we ate the dinners because she was going to come to our house with new ones only if she could collect the ones we didn’t eat. Now this would have been a from a house having two people with active covid at the time. I highly think this is disgusting as she would have brought our covid germ infested meals back to the diner to get thrown away. Plus she may also have been in contact with covid by coming to our house. Her only other option was to give us extra bread and gravy the next time. Stupid. I’ll never go there again if that’s how they operate business by putting regular customers at risk of Covid...
