If you don't want to read all of this I'll understand, so quick snapshot: DO. NOT. EAT. HERE.
For starters, we arrived for our reservation and the hostess said they had no record of our reservation(they use a paper book, they aren't on open table or resi in 2024) and instead of nicely working on a solution, the head hostess was mean and rude. This should have been our red flag to find another restaurant but we stayed and were eventually seated.
First round of drinks were delivered and one was wrong, no big deal but in the end it dovetailed with our experience.
One of the people in our group has dairy and gluten allergies and they were not accommodated at all. Their salad came out covered in grated cheese even though there was no mention of it on the menu. Regardless, the order was placed with explicit instructions on the allergies and it should not have happened.
After the salad fiasco, one would think any subsequent dishes would be checked to ensure they were allergy safe. One would think that and yet they would be wrong. The filet came out slathered in a brown sauce that was obviously made with flour so we questioned it. Waitress confirmed with the kitchen it indeed was not gluten free. This sauce was also mentioned nowhere on the menu.
Re-firing a medium rare steak should have taken 5-10 min, nearly 20 minutes later a new steak came out. The steak was raw, not rare, fridge cold raw in the middle. They made an effort to eat it and it was disgusting, they described it as the worst cut of steak they ever tasted. This for a market price filet.
After the manager arrived and we explained the issues no attempt to offer concessions were made other than removing the steak from the bill. And that only happened after we had to push for that outcome.
Before we end our saga, the most disturbing part of the experience had to be the bathrooms. They were absolutely FILTHY. Weeks of neglect filthy. The toilets have not seen a cleanser or brush in a long time. The towel dispensers were empty, there was no soap. If that's the condition of the bathrooms, you shudder to think about the state of the kitchen.
I simply cannot believe this is an operational restaurant. There are dozens and dozens of better options a stones throw away.
I'll repeat my original statement: DO....
Read moreBeen a customer for several years when they were located in the center of sic. Yesterday i decided to drive from Avalon to take my 88 year old aunt to dinner who lives in Philadelphia. I mad a reservation 4 hours ahead of time and ask for my favorite server jenelle. We all arrive on time fir our 6 pm reservation and we had to wait 40 mins before we were sat. I patiently waited and told the girls at the front how upset we were that not only were we still waiting but other guess were being sat before us, some never had reservations and when they were told they only had high tops available, they became verbal and said no it wasn’t acceptable. Meanwhile our party which included my elderly aunt was kept waiting all this time . Finally at 6 40 we were told we were going to be sat. A manager I believe who name was Colin said “ is there a problem “ i told him everything and he looked at me and said i am confused so whats the problem! Our server Billy was very nice and made my aunt laugh and save the only part of the evening with his good service, unfortunately the food was sub par and everyone who ordered the stuff shrimp was disappointed on the dry rubbish taste. I would have given zero stars if it wasn’t for Billy and Jenelle. I guess Colin the manager never herd of saying i am sorry to my Aunt and just maybe saying let me buy you a round of drinks or dessert…….NO he just said “SO WHATS...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star I would. We have for many years been regulars at Anthony’s…. Until tonight. We have multiple properties in Sea Isle city since 1970 and have never been treated the way we were tonight. I made reservations (2 weeks prior) for 10 people, 9 and a high chair- to which we were told, “ok 10 people”… we ended up being 9. Upon our arrival we were seated at a table for 10. Within 5 minutes we were asked to move our party. We were more than willing to move until they tried to squeeze us into a table meant for 6. We informed the waitress that sitting at such a small table would be very uncomfortable being that we were 9 people. We were told not to worry they would remove tableware not being used to make more room Ridiculous! The hostess then came to our table and tried to justify our move. She was rude, loud and extremely unpleasant. She kept saying that we were mistakenly seated at the original table because that was reserved for 10 and we were only nine…. I’m pretty sure that a table for 10 would would better accommodate 9 than a table for 6. She wouldn’t listen to reason and we ended up walking out. Maybe because there were a couple of kids in our party she figured there would be a bigger bill with 10 adults in a party. Needless to say, as long as that woman is working there, we will not...
