Service at time of order: I have never heard of this place. I saw it out of the corner of my eye while passing through Searcy, Arkansas and was intrigued at the idea of having a “Burger Pie & Fries” for dinner. The drive through was backed up so My wife and I went inside to place an order and enjoy a sit-down experience. There was no one waiting in line. They were very polite and seemed to enjoy their work. They were well staffed. Unfortunately, I found out that I mis read their signage because I thought this place sold “Burger Pies”, but its actually “Burgers (comma) Pies & Fries… Even though they offer Fried Pies as a dessert (and sliced samples available), they do have some Savory Pies. We ordered the BBQ Pie to split as a taste test appetizer before getting out main meal. The BBQ Pie was wonderful! I suggested to the main person at the counter that they should consider making a Burger Pie. She said she would let the owner know. Another person came around and greeted us and said that customers have been giving a lot of feedback and request for some other Savory Pie ideas and a Burger Fried Pie is a great idea to add to the list. Our food was brought out to us very quickly. It only took about 10 minutes. Again, I would like to point out the great atmosphere in this place. Its great to dine somewhere, where people are getting along and appear to enjoy what they do!
Appearance of food: The appearance of the food was awesome! It looked like they too pride in preparing your plate. See attached photos. They look like they are going to taste amazing!
Quality of Food: Not so good due to the extreme saltiness. I was literally tempted to take home left overs just to get the chance of analyzing the salt content with my Horiba LAQUAtwin NaCl Salinity Meter just for curiosity sake (which I have never used for that purpose).
We both enjoyed the flavors, but it was a miracle that any flavor at all shined through the INTENSE saltiness. I love salt. I feel like I could eat it straight with no chaser. But someone must have dumped a gallon of salt in their Ground Brisket mix because I cannot fathom how someone could achieve such magnitude of salinity in a piece of meat. The pickles on my burger were equally salty. The plain fries were amazing though. The remanded me of my grandmother because they were thick cut, and made from fresh potatoes. My wife ordered the “seasoned fries” and she could not eat more than a couple because they had SO MUCH seasoning and salt on them. I shared my fries with her because they were totally un-edible.
I ordered the Single Burger Basket. 5/10 stars for me. My wife tasted my single burger basket and she rated it 4/5 out 10. Way to salty.
My wife ordered the Patty Melt Basket. She said she would rate it 6/7 stars and would have been an 8 if it wasn’t so salty. I tasted it, and I actually liked her Patty Melt. I would have given that an 8/10 as is. The Texas Toast this is made with is stellar! I do recommend you guys switch to Salt Free Butter for toasting these to reduce the saltiness.
We were given 2 little pieces of samples of desert “Fancy” pies. I had the blackberry. My wife had the Chocolate. 10/10.. they know what they’re doing when it comes to Pies.
We will be back. If you are sensitive to salt, or any concerned about your salt intake at all… I HIGHLY recommend asking them to reduce the amount of seasoning they use when making your order. Had things not been so salty, the first time experience would have...
Read moreWhere do I start, food indeed is delicious and we made this a must stop for today. We stopped by this restaurant on Memorial Day weekend because we heard that the food was amazing, but the restaurant was closed. So last weekend, I called to make sure the restaurant was open, so that we did not go out of our way while driving back home to another state and it be closed again. The lady that answered the phone was very rude when I asked if the restaurant was open. We made the trip there because my wife said that the lady on the phone must have been having a bad day. The food that we ordered was absolutely delicious! We decided to go again today on our way back home, and went inside the restaurant to order. Everything good from this place is going right to the trash because of our service. When we went to place an order, the young lady at the register was extremely rude, giving us a nasty attitude that it was so noticeable. My wife is one of the nicest people on earth and shame on that young lady that was whispering to the other employees and giggling and making fun of her. It was so obvious that the other family that was with our family noticed and commented about how rude the employees were. I left the restaurant because I was upset about how rude the employees were to us for absolutely no reason. It is sad that this place is a gem with really good food and instead we left with a very bad taste in our mouths. We spent over $100 dls in here. I really encourage the owners to not let this comment be wasted. We saw that this place was nearly empty on a Sunday at 4 pm-a place that should be busy. We will not be back any time soon due to the poor customer service we received 2...
Read moreSo we were out and about on a rainy saturday and decided to pop in here for some lunch. Now this was the first time I have eaten here, and let me say it will not be the last. from the moment we walked in the door the staff was amazing. From explaining that their meat is ground fresh daily, the fries are cut fresh when you order them, they really were super helpful in helping us decide on what to get. Pay close attention to the sign they have right inside the door... "we are a restaurant and not fast food" they don't have premade burgers and fries just laying around under a warmer and throw it in a sack. they cook your burger and fries when you order them so you know it is going to be extremely fresh, hot and tasty! Now let's talk about those Pies.. they have daily "samples" to help you decide on which one to get. when we ordered ours, I was able to walk up to the counter and see them make it right there, so you know everything was as fresh as it could be. We tried the Strawberry cream, Peach, Cherry, Coconut and Chocolate Peanut Butter. I honestly can't say which one was my favorite because they were all so so good. We got ours "to go" and just placed them in the oven for a few minutes that night to warm them back up and they were fantastic. If you are in Searcy and you've got a craving for a really good homemade burger and Pie... you will not be disappointed if you pop in here for a bite to eat. A+ all around. We'll be...
