Cafe Lulu is like a home away from home. I am always welcomed with friendly smiles and excellent service. Great pastries and love the egg tasty bagels. Sit at the community table and have a lively conversation and make new friends.
Update for Covid: I would like to praise the owner of Cafe Lulu and what a wonderful job she has done to keep us all safe during this pandemic. You can still get all the same pastries, bagels and coffee drinks served with a smile, but the smiles are behind a mask. If you don't have a mask with you, Cafe Lulu has extras. They have lots of hand sanitizer, the employees are constantly washing their hands and you can open the door using your foot so you don't have to touch the handle. There is a limit to how many people can be in the shop at a time as well. However, there are a couple places to sit outside and one spot for 2 inside. Everything a customer needs to feel safe and still enjoy themselves. What is even more commendable though is how much the owner cares about making sure her employees are safe. In a previous review someone mentioned a time limit to sitting inside and being told to put their mask back on and feeling like that was rude. They claimed no one was waiting for the table. But what about the employee who was stuck inside for the hour that the customers chatted with their masks off. I say Brava to the owner for speaking up and protecting her employees. This adorable cafe...
Read moreI really wanted to love this cafe. Awesome artwork, -generally- friendly staff even when packed. Vendor of local artists…..
But everything about it seems like a sit-com version of a home-grown star-ducks, sans the witty repose.
Their menu is more restrictive than a star-ducks, and about as pricey. Their food items are decent quality, but haven’t changed near as I can tell from the reviews in the 3 years since they last received rave reviews about those offerings, and with what I would imagine is an inflation/pandemic driven uptick in pricing. They want about a dollar for a, though generous, slather of cream cheese!
Their coffee/tea offerings are very plain by todays standards, and are about what I would expect from a way-back-machine with a portal into an SBC. If a great 90’s home grown alternative cafe is your bag? This is your place. Otherwise, it’s probably not worth struggling to find a parking place to hit...
Read moreIt started out great. The customer service with the gal that was opening was wonderful and the quiche and coffee were great. I give this a 3 because the owner (or manager?) came in and raised her voice at my friend and I for not having our masks on...while we were drinking coffee. We obviously obliged and started only taking our masks down when we went to sip our drinks. However, I hadn't even finished my drink and they asked us to leave in the middle of our coffee date because "there is a time limit" for how long you can sit in there. Even though that was not told to us at the beginning and there were no signs with this information, nor was there anyone else waiting to get coffee or sit down in the shop. It says dine in on Google. Maybe give people are 10 minute warning before you kick them out of your coffee shop first? Or don't publicize that you are dine in if you are not friendly to people that...
