My younger brother wanted to stop by here for his birthday dinner as he says the broth here is one of the pho broths that he has ever had. I bookmarked this spot for quite some time so I was to excited to try it out. They have some unique specialties too and I always love trying out new foods. Both my boyfriend and brother got the large combination pho, my mom ordered the large tofu veggie pho, and I got the level 5 spicy Pho Bo Sa Te (one size). We also ordered one order of spring rolls which comes in four pieces which were quite huge. I do feel like they should reduce the amount of lettuce provided at the end of the roll as it was hard to eat unless you wrapped it around but that could get messy. The peanut sauce that came with it was delicious although my boyfriend and brother said they prefer other peanut sauce dipping sauces as they said it was more on the sweeter side. I didn't mind it and enjoyed the crispy garlic on the top. It took some time to received our food but once it arrived, the aroma and presentation was lovely. The pho broth is very comforting and tasted the most authentic as I have had authentic pho broth before. No one spice or flavor profile was too strong or weak, it was balanced perfectly. My Pho Bo Sa Te was also very interesting as it had a good hint of peanut flavor without it being the main flavor profile. It was spicy but not as bad as what a level 5 spicy broth would be. In addition, the broth had no MSG what so ever as none of us were needing to drink excessive amounts of water or feel drowsy.
Service here was really odd as when we entered, our main waiter meekly asked how many but only my boyfriend heard him. He pointed to a free table and brought us waters. It took some time get our order in but he would bring us our food quickly. However, afterwards there is no check in until you look like you're finished as that's when they stopped by with the check. Additionally, if it weren't for the fact that we saw other patrons pay at the counter, we would have been sitting there forever as no employees mentioned that.
The inside gives off very cozy vibes and I love the motorbike as a centerpiece in the dining room. The restaurant has good lighting for good pictures. There are plenty of tables and chairs to accommodate all types of groups or solo diners. They were decently busy when we arrived during the afternoon...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to have lunch at Miss Pho today, and unfortunately, our visit left us feeling deeply disappointed. One of the older female staff members on duty seemed to harbor a discriminatory attitude that tainted our entire dining experience.
As soon as we stepped in, the staff member instructed us to find seats at the bar since all the tables were occupied. However, what followed was nothing short of discriminatory behavior:
Bar Seating Fiasco: We found a spot at the bar, leaving one seat between us and the lone customer already seated there. But within moments, the same staff member ushered a White customer behind us. She promptly grabbed a bar stool from the opposite end of the counter and placed it between me and the empty chair. Her demand? That we move over toward the corner of the bar seating area. We assumed she was accommodating a pair of customers, so we obliged. Little did we know that the empty bar seat would remain vacant for the next half-hour while the newcomer seated themselves next to us.
Ordering Bias: When we were ready to order, I politely requested the same staff member, who was stationed directly in front of us, to take our order. She agreed but then turned to the White customer and asked for his order first. Only after that did she bother to take our orders. This blatant bias was both infuriating and hurtful.
Unprecedented Experience: We've been loyal patrons of Miss Pho, visiting a combined 15 times before. Never have we encountered such treatment. It's disheartening to think that our previous positive experiences were overshadowed by today's discriminatory encounter.
Miss Pho, you've lost our trust and our business. Discrimination has no place in any establishment, especially one that I looked up to for comforting meals and friendly customer service. We hope you address this issue promptly and ensure that all customers are...
Read moreALL THE GOOD THINGS YOUVE HEARD ARE TRUE! I finally stopped by Miss Pho this evening, Sunday around 5:30. It was BUSY but I was solo and luckily there was one spot at the bar-style seating open (just FYI they do not have a liquor bar or wine but they DO have some ice cold beer that pairs wonderfully with everything). As I sat down, both other parties at the bar were wrapping up and thanking one of the owners for how great it was. I ordered grilled chicken summer rolls, tamarind beef salad and pho with brisket and egg yolk. The pho has a broth that's been simmering for 30 hours and tastes AMAZING. Rich and full of spices and aromatics...so much really nice beef and perfectly cooked noodles. I finished the whole bowl. The salad was a shredded cabbage/veggie/herb mix with tender little nuggets of beef with a tamarind sauce and tamarind powder. So fresh, the perfect amount of tangy sweet....the summer rolls were also excellent. Filled with a meaty amount of grilled chicken, they were wonderful dipped in fish sauce but Mia, my server extraodinaire for the evening, thought I should try the house made tamarind dipping sauce and, yup, that was the winner! Which leads me to Mia. You are a delight. I would've come back just for the food but now I have stories to tell to people about Miss Pho and the super awesome employee there,! You really made it a fun meal and I appreciate your amazing hospitality. You and your team brought a really friendly, efficient but welcoming atmosphere (as well as the owners, husband and wife - it's the wife's recipes!). Also the restaurant was very well run during an extremely busy time . The atmosphere was bustling but not frantic. Pick up orders were getting filled, food came out in a very reasonable time, still enough time to cheerfully chat with the customers. It was a GREAT EXPERIENCE. YES! GO THERE! Mia...
