I was beyond thrilled to get to try Rosellini's. I decided to go for their pastries after my usual bakery was pretty much sold out on a late Sunday afternoon. The staff member who assisted me was cheerful and patient with my questions! I got two different kinds of tarts, lemon and caramel, which I will eat later today. They look beautiful. I also got two gougères, which were especially delicous when I lightly warmed them. The highlight of my selection was without a doubt their rhubarb Danish. Never have I had such a perfect pastry! The flake on the Danish was immaculate, not too dense and not too airy. The filling was the perfect amount of sweetness with the punch of the rhubarb shining through. Overall, it had the best ratio of filling to pastry I've ever had, with no competition of quality between the two; perfectly balanced and deeply impressive. The vanilla eclaires were also very good and beautiful in design. Again, the filling to pastry ratio had one of the best balances I've ever had in an eclaire. The flavor of the vanilla was decently present but not prominent. The last and weakest item that I purchased was their vanilla macaron. If you are a sugar cookie lover, then you would adore this cookie but I found it a cloyingly sweet experience with limited vanilla flavor. I must admit that I had to go cleanse my palate with some olives after coffee didn't do the trick. I would be interested to give their other flavors a chance, especially their Huckleberry and their Mexican chocolate! Overall, a five star experience. Came here on a cool Sunday morning in November and there was a 30 minute wait with a line that was probably 18 orders deep. The barista actually walked outside and started taking orders for the people in line. Pro move!
The cashier noticed the customer ahead of me and struck up a little conversation. When it was my turn I just called out my order, but she struck up the same type of conversation with me! Like she knew me, smile and all!
Even though there were still tons of people waiting behind me, she did not rush. She repeated my order and asked me clarify which of the two Eclairs I wanted. It was the chocolate.
The attention to details is like none I have ever seen; and to do this under pressure is wow! Gold star staff all the way.
I like the '67 hippie/19th century Victorian aesthetic logo. Even though the logo is so freeform and quirky, the execution is professional and presentation simple.
Good energy all...

I lived in Ballard for two years, and in all that time, I never managed to make it to Honore, despite many half-hearted attempts to do so. Since we were getting brunch right across the street though, I couldn't resist finally stopping in and getting a pre-meal snack.
Not wanting to overdo it, I stuck with the highly recommended kouign amann, for which I have no previous experience to compare it against. As a standalone pastry though, it's quite delicious: buttery, flaky, slightly sweet, and just a tough of salt to balance things out. And I imagine it's infinitely better after being toasted slightly in a toaster oven!

Bathroom - Didn't try them, and not sure they had any public...
