So, I don’t really write reviews but…. My husband and I are from Chicago and love pizza! My husband will practically eat anything. I call him walking garbage disposal and The Consumer. While I was at work I got a message from him that said, “ I just got delivered the worst pizza I have ever had. It’s down right gross, and I am so mad. Never order from South town Pie, the worst! I waisted $40.” I didn’t believe him, I also call him The exaggerator, I thought he’s probably just exaggerating. About an hour or two later When I I got home, I saw the pizza by the door waiting to go out to garbage. I was starving so I decided to try a piece. Now I understand that it was cold by then and had been sitting for about an hour or two, so I didn’t expect much. After warming it up I had a bite and it tasted like cardboard, it was the driest pizza I’ve ever had! Pretty gross. It tasted like it was pizza from a day old or more. My husband said it tasted like that when it was fresh. No good! Very disappointing. He wasn’t exaggerating this time. Pizza will be going out...
Read moreUpdate- well this place used to be awesome but the last few visits were very disappointing. For pickup, it's been undercooked, soggy, reminds me of the rectangle grade school cafeteria pizza. Not worth $30 anymore, you're better off with a DiGiorno. Also something is missing taste-wise, maybe oregano, or pepper? It's bland and bready and sad. Seems they made some recipe changes and it's such a shame. Or maybe change in management? I dunno. I'm bummed. Clinging to 4 stars because of how good it used to be.
Older- Love this place, been here 12+ times, never disappointed. Delicious pizza, hefty salads, great specialty/unicorn combos, always good service. (Beware if you use a service like Postmates or Grubhub- if you're picking up, they charge a fee so don't use them!) Just call and order for pickup. They fill growlers, and have packaged alcohol to take home. A+++ cannot...
Read moreTo start off South Town Pie has a great parking lot, plenty of room to park. I had a trailer with some gear loaded on it and I was able to turn around without hitting things.
They have lots of seating, inside and out they have booths, tables, and bar seating. South Town Pie gots game machines to have some fun TVs for viewing sports or what have ye, and their restrooms smell really clean.
Their pizzas are amazing, they got the science down and know how to make a crust. It’s crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The flavor is amazing and it has a wonderful texture too. The sauce is sweet yet savory and their cheese is fresh for the cheese pulls.
They have wonderful staff and have a wonderful hospitality atmosphere. If you’re in need of a refill then stop on in and charge up. Everything is priced fairly and you get filled up.
10 out of 10...
