I had an excellent lunch here about a month ago while returning home from Philly. We had passed through a few small downs while working our way down 113 and didn't want to stop for fast food. Once we arrived in Selbyville I saw the place and pulled into the parking lot. There were some bad reviews for this establishment however after reading them I determined that the bad instances reported were unfair and didn't fit the low star reviews.
Mom was along with me as we had been visiting family in PA and we walked in and waited to be seated. First thing to note is that Doyle's is a restaurant and a diner. The hostess sat is in the main restaurant dining room and left us with some menus. There were about 3-4 other tables full in the dining area. There was also a second dining room off to the side of the main one.
I inquired about breakfast however they do not serve breakfast all day there. Both of us decided to order club sandwiches with fries. I didn't catch our waiters name but he was very polite and attentive keeping our iced teas topped off and checking on us a couple of times during the meal to see how things were and if we needed anything.
Our club sandwiches and fries were excellent and when we were ready we took our check back to the front area to pay for the meal. While we were waiting for someone to come up to the register I walked over into the diner area. It's an old style silver diner and there were hot apple cooling off on the counter. Next time I come in here, not only am I going to eat in the diner, I'm gonna piece of that pie. It smelled delicious.
I'm so glad I stopped here and if you find yourself on Route 113 going north or south, and you feel that gnawing hunger in your stomach, I suggest checking out Doyle's in Selbyville. It's an excellent family owned...

Read moreWe were looking for a non franchise place for breakfast and stumbled across Doyle's. The history of Doyle's is interesting as they are the last restaurant operating in a train car from 1951. The food was amazing and portions are big! As I was checking out I saw they sold tee shirts and wanted to purchase one. Tee shirts are in a display case and I asked for a medium of any style...I was told there were no mediums but when I glanced in the case I saw a tee shirt that was marked "M" for medium and she pulled that tee shirt out and bagged it up for me. She couldn't figure out how to add the tee shirt to my check. I said 2 separate transactions would be fine with me. She rang up my food check then asked me to step aside so she could ring up the customers BEHIND me! I'm thinking maybe she's going to help a few people then finish my transaction... no she kept checking folks out! I'm not sure why I stepped aside but I did and caught myself feeling uncomfortable because why did she ask me to get out of line... then I look at the line of folks waiting to check out and it all made sense... by this time the line is down from about 7 people trying to check to about 3 people and I say to the cashier I can't wait any longer and her response is "I got you." and calls for the next person in line. At this point I'm pissed because I now know why I was asked to step aside...I left without saying another word. I debated on whether or not to post this review but anyone (POC) who is not from the area please be cautious! The food was amazing and was hoping to add this as a regular spot on my way to the beach... I'd rather eat air with a side of water than give...
