I was told about a Latin spot about 40 min from Raleigh that had good food. With very particular children of ages 6 & 7 that prefer Latin food over Fast food we headed over. We parked and can smell all sorts of meats coming out of this small spot. We ordered Pupusas mixtas & split a Caldo de Pollo to start with Homemade Horchata Central American style and a couple of Mexican style Coca colas. The Pupusas and Caldo were surprisingly good. Our main Dish we ordered was a Parrillada for 3 and added Skewer shrimp cause I noticed the main dish did not have it but that’s what we preferred. When the main dish came out it was served Fajitas style but it did not smell anything like one. It had its unique flavors and the presentation was Bar none. My kids preferring to just eat the chicken and carne asada they gave it thumbs up on the taste. The portion was listed for 3 but 5of us ate from it and still had left overs. Service was great! I believe the server was Karla whom treated us like if we walked into her house and we were welcomed and served like we were the only ones there. Mind you it was 3pm and there were no available tables. I recommend this spot for anyone that enjoys delicious food with a unique Honduran delicious flavor and that are looking to get the biggest Bang for your Buck. We’re from MD and would make the 4 1/2 hr drive again just to get this Parrillada anytime. If Karla happens to read this, Thank you. This spot gets a 5 out of 5 in my book. Definitely...
Read moreWe were driving back from the beach looking for something to eat and didn’t want the same ol’ same old’ stuff. My hubz looked up Mexican places off the highway and found this option of a mix of Honduran and Mexican conveniently located off Hwy 70 and not too far from I-95. At first glance you might pass on it but we are adventurous and we wanted to try it. Totally worth it! Family owned business- I talked to the owner who was there cooking and her husband was in the kitchen. We tried the Honduran menu and it was fantastic! Since I have never been to Honduras, I can’t speak to how authentic it was all I can say is that it was delicious!!!! Plantains and steak with some delicious sauce. There was a salad or slaw blend of veggies on top of the plantains….. yum!!! The waitress spoke English as did the owner but it is not their native tongue. (No prob w me- just letting u know what to expect- you CAN communicate) The menu was in both Spanish and English - very helpful. First thing they brought to the table was fresh hot tortilla chips and homemade fresh salsa all to die for! Just nice people trying to make it and I definitely wanted to leave an awesome review to encourage others to give it a try. Can’t wait til we head...
Read moreReally wanted to love this place. Love supporting small businesses and mom & pop shops. Based on the high reviews, I was very eager to try. Unfortunately, the only item that was semi-edible was the Yuka fritas. The rice in the picture is a double order and was on the crunchier, dryer, al dente side. The pollo con tajadas was primarily bones, chicken jerky and breading. The bed of plantations below was dry, hard, and old/stale tasting. The carne asada from the Honduras menu was thin, beef jerky textured and the beans tasted like a packet of taco seasoning. Not sure if this is an acquired taste type of thing or perhaps it was the...
