New update 08/19/2025 Back to the slow service and total lack of enthusiasm from staff. So disappointed.
The greeter literally counted on her fingers (several times) before deciding where to seat us. Then hurried away, not waiting for us slow old people to catch up. Floor of the bar area was untidy with bits of paper or such scattered around. It was clear it hadn't been swept recently
Server was pleasant but didn't know the answer to a question I asked, and never checked with anyone to get an answer.
Food took 30 minutes (on a Tuesday night) to arrive -- a salad and appetizers. Our server didn't apologize or check in with any assurances that food would be coming soon. Eventually we got the food and next time we saw our server was when we were finished eating.
I really like to see happy workers, connecting with customers, working around the edges to keep things tidy and be available. Didn't get that tonight. Sadness...
New update: Wow! Completely different experience. The front person was pleasant, anxious to make sure we got to sit exactly wherever we are wanted to go. The server for the section was actually sweeping when we arrived - love it when the staff keeps busy doing anything that needs to be done.
Our server, Destiny was the tops! When one item I ordered had a garnish I'd ask to be left off, she quickly got it replaced.
Definitely a much better experience. Thank you Applebee's!
Update: Speed of service had not improved. Asking for special accommodations on any item is a hit or miss (last night was a miss).
It would be great if the staff smiled and made me feel like a valued customer instead of an interruption in their day. When I see a group of servers just standing against the wall I know they have not been trained to find what needs to be done and do it!
Ordering from the menu was a challenge with a newly hired server. We asked for some options and thought we were done. The server came back and said we qualified for a free appetizer -- hurray! Later he came back and said we didn't qualify for something we asked for. After 3 conversations we felt like the order was done.
A long while later part of the meal arrived. A longer time later my soup finally arrived!

Read moreFirst thing, I've always liked Applebees, but today's visit really sucked! We ordered the all you can eat ribs and chicken. While the food 'tasted good ' , it took approximately 25 to 30 minutes to get to our table, served by the kitchen staff as the waitress was to busy chatting up a cute guy at the back register. So of course it was cold and the coleslaw was warm. Then, we thought we'd order our 2nd plate as soon as she got back on the floor( halfway through the first plate). Again she was talking with someone at the back by the bathrooms while we waited for another 20 minutes, only to have another kitchen staff deliver our food again. We paid at the table kiosk and asked for a to go plate as we were leaving and she said they don't allow that for a second helping. We only had 1 piece of chicken and about 2 ribs left and a few French fries. I asked her if they were just going to throw it out why couldn't we take it home? She said it's just policy. We said it's not like it's a whole plate it's just 1 piece of chicken. She just walked away. So I hope she had to share the tip we left with the guy that was delivering her orders because he's the one that deserved it. ( it was at 1pm and not crowded at all on a Thursday afternoon), while I'll still go to Applebees, I'll travel to Anderson to see if this is a trend in...
Read moreAgainst my better judgement, I decided to take my parents and my son and his family to Applebee's tonight... and the service, food and management was so poor I feel compelled to offer my personal reciew. My son was going to share his plate with his three year old daughter... and was informed he could not do so. Our server stated she would go check with her manager to see if she could "allow" him to do so. After waiting 12 minutes for the server to return, my parents (who at this point had only received their drinks... one sweet tea and one water) decided to leave. The manager then came to our table and told us it would be permitted "this time." However, we decided to leave. We were charged for drink's we did not order... and drinks we didn't even have time to drink because it took so long to receive them. Our bill totalled over 60.00 and 5 out of our party of 8 cancelled their orders before they were received. Our service was terrible the two of us who actually ate, never received refills on our drinks and our food was cold when we received it. We will not be back again and I would advise you to save your money...
