katrinas mexican cuisine — Restaurant in Senoia

We gave this place two chances. First time was take out and it was so so. The second time we ate there. The cheese dip came out Luke warm and started to thicken within minutes, the steak I order was very chewy to the point I had to spit out several bites, the rice is very bland and had no flavor. We ordered sodas and specialty drinks. I ordered a new drink based on waitress recommendation for a fruity Caribbean drink, but received a margarita instead of the one she suggested and pointed out. We never received refills on our sodas with my cup remaining empty through half the meal. We had to wait 10 minutes after we finished just sitting there before she asked if we wanted our bill. Several times I looked around and the servers were standing by the bar or at the door to the kitchen laughing and chit chatting. The server was extremely nice but that does not make up for the lack of service. For two people the bill was $90 for incorrect drinks and bland luke warm food. We wanted to give them the second chance after having the same bond food the first time and it was not any better. The restaurant was at maybe 40% full. Definitely recommend going to one of the other several Mexican restaurants in the area...

I had to write this review because I've never had such good tasting beans. They're not exactly refried but they're not your standard pinto bean either. I really have no idea what seasoning they used to make those beans so effing tasty but I'll be back for the beans alone. This was going to be a 2 or 3 star review but those beans...

The negatives: service wasn't great. In addition to slightly below average service, they completely forgot to bring one of our four meals to the table. We had to ask a different server if they could let someone know we were missing a meal because our waiter didn't really check in on us. I ordered the chimichanga (can't remember the name, it's the bacon wrapped deep fried burrito). The way they wrapped the bacon left the bottom layer completely uncooked which was gross as F. I complained and they made me another one which had the exact same problem. Took it home and baked it for 20 minutes and that cooked that inner layer of bacon. Why not just do 1 layer instead of 2 so it's properly cooked? Seems like...

The exterior of the building has a bright check me out feel. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted right away by several servers. They were all very welcoming. Our server arrived within a couple minutes for our party of 5. We ordered 1 water, 2 unsweet teas, a margarita and the table guac (which was made in front of us). Y’all it was so fresh tasting and so good. We order 2 sets of fajitas one was for two people which we shared with our 2 year old and the other a single serving for our two family members to share. The food came out relatively quickly our drinks remained filled the entire time. For a table of 5 we had leftovers the proportions are more than you would expect. The bathrooms were kept up and the vibe of the entire restaurant was great. I wouldn’t consider this an upscale place this would be good for large gatherings though.
