Nice location just off the main drags coming north off of Hwy 29. I think this might be considered "the center"of town, based on the town's name on pylons just down the block from here. Location wise it's at the location of Green Bay and Main St's. Highway number wise, it appears that 22, 47, 55, and business 29 all intersect here. This part of the city has a nice old-style DownTown feel to it. Would love to spend an hour or two here in the warmer weather just taking a walk and taking in the ambience of Shawano. Nice appearances inside and out. Stopped in about 3pm on a Saturday. Place 1/3 rd to 1/2 filled until I departed. Noise level what one might expect from a casual family spot. Very clean. Relaxingly rustic and fun adornment and atmosphere ( old pics, "outhouses" posted over the lavatories). Wait staff friendly. A bit slow at coming for my order, and was not asked about a coffee refill until I finished and was looking for the bill. Fortunately, I was in a very relaxed mode. In hindsight, I would have grabbed a water also. Classic grilled chick sandwich (under "Hen House" on the menu) was delicious; bread looked, smelled, tasted fresh. Sandwich, a good portion of fries, and a coffee came to $10 even. My diet and schedule didn't allow me to partake of the desserts, but I have to admit lusting over the coconut cream pie that was sitting in the display counter on my way out. If this was Located in a larger city like Green Bay or Appleton, I probably would've gone with a three star. Because it's in a smaller city, it seems to be more of a local establishment, that also caters to the tourist, and I would expect (at appreciate) the pace of life to be just a bit slower (dare I say, more relaxed?)I give it a four. If out this way again, I would definitely stop back... But I would load up on my water or a...
Read moreLast night myself & 2 grandkids ordered 2 combos, pressured fried chicken dinner. Waited about 1/2 hr for waitress, who kept telling others only 2 of them there. I assume the cook & herself. I observed a young female busser also. I along with everyone else was very patient. After approx. 1/2 hour the manager took our order. Waited another 30-40 minutes. Finally food arrived, appeared to be saturated in grease. I cut into the chicken that was under cooked & pink inside. Manager takes it, brings it back in about 5 minutes appeared to be refried and looked like no chicken just vety greasy coating. The side items i had on my plate were now gone. Oh, manager did tell me to hang onto my breadstick! No drinks served I had to ask for them when our food arrived 40 minutes later. I usually take kids here on Fridays and often order the 12 chicken dinner to go. WHAT HAPPENED FARM INN ON MAIN! TERRIBLE SERVICE, BAD FOOD. Paid for the kids food & drinks. Also over heard others complaining to leave. NOT HAPPY! I think we arrived there about 5:30 an when we left my truck clock said 7:06. But my receipt say 6:31pm so I believe your clock on your register is incorrect. Kids only ate as long as I waited for my chicken to come back before I had enough and told them were leaving get your coats on. I put the greasy distorted chicken plate on their counter asked for the manager and the waitress said she was the manager!! NOT...
Read moreTook my 6 year old daughter here for an early lunch after a doctor's appointment during the week. I told her she could have what ever she wanted for lunch and she asked for steak. We're new to the area so I had to look online to find a restaurant that served steak at 11am since most steak places don't open till late afternoon. I had driven past this place a few times and it looked cute so we were excited to try it. We ordered our steaks with salad and mashed potatoes for the side. The place wasn't busy but it took forever for our food to come out and when it did I was more than disappointed. Our waitress dropped off our salads then disappeared with out a word. One look at the food told me why! Our salads were a mix of iceberg and baby greens but the greens had gone bad! I couldn't believe they'd mix old spoiled greens with fresh lettuce and serve it! The rest of the food wasn't much better. The rolls were cold, straight outta the fridge cold and the mashed potatoes had a layer of thick dried out mashed potatoes in them. Probably old mixed with fresh just like the salad! The steak was tough and dry even though it was served with a cup of au jus. There was no point in even complaining. Obviously they don't care about what's coming out of the kitchen and being served. I learned my lesson and...
