Hamlin Pub — Restaurant in Shelby Charter Township

We had dinner at the Hamlin Pub tonight, the food is delicious, we eat there about once a month. So we haven’t been there since the pandemic, but we do take COVID-19 very serious. Especially because we have underlying conditions. So this evening we ordered our food, and we noticed that a number of people weren’t practicing social distancing. Then I happened to look at the area where the food comes off the grill and there are like three or four people in that area working and picking up people’s food. There was one individual that stood out because she was the only person not wearing a mask or a shield and she was touching everything wiping things moving things and eating her own food while walking around the area where the food comes out. So when my server brought our food to us I asked why aren’t the people at this one round table in the back are not following social distancing rules???? She asked if I wanna speak to her manager? I said absolutely, is that your manager? I pointed to the person not wearing a mask or shield, she said yes. Hmmmm so the manager waited approximately 10 minutes before coming to my table ( wearing a face shield ) so I asked about the people not following the rules, she said well they are people that work there but they’re not working now they are having a party, she said she would ask them to put on their masks before walking around in the establishment, I said maybe they aren’t following the rules because their manager isn’t setting a good example for them, I told her what I saw her do. She just apologized and left. What good is that going to do if she has COVID-19 and just passed it to everybody that ate in that restaurant/bar ????? I hope everyone tells or posts if you see people not following social distancing in these establishments, I don’t what the government shutting everything down again!!!! Just had to edit/change this post after my experience here this evening. I'm a casual frequent patron here for mostly bar time with nibbles, but tonight was a time to bring in the family for our weekend dinner out. Worst possible time ever. A total surprise and disappointment for sure especially because I found this crew usually a working type with some pride. Absolutely no pride at all there tonight. Food was overdone and burnt. I think "dry" was the best term I heard in regards to a simple ruben, but then "stringy" to explain it more. Just not what you want when hoping for an easy dinner for the wife and kids. The service was lacking the basics and that's being kind. I should have taken the hint after the waitress came by the table placing a reserve sign on my table before even ordering our dinner, showing I had less than an hour to be done. I do know... if I had been allowed to have my family at the bar top we would have received the kind and attentive service we're use to... the food part I just don't understand or find acceptable. This shouldn't have been allowed out of the kitchen by the cooks let alone the waitstaff. When asked how things were by the waitress I said "well", and she walked away as I only assume she took it as a pleasurable or sarcastically look of disgust on my face. I will most likely be back for my bar time elation, however I will never eat the food or bring my family ever again. The only reason I paid my bill and even tipped this girl was of strict respect to the owners and heads of this establishment location, my history thereof and not a thing more. I wish I could let it go, but my last review was up for over a year telling people how wonderful this location was so I feel it is important to share this...

We came in on Saturday the 27th for an anniversary lunch at noon. There were very few people there, four tables total and two at the bar. We waited 24 minutes for anyone to greet us and take our drink order. Finally, Marina shows and said, "sorry, we are dealing with an issue on the kitchen". I order a fancy $10 drink, husband orders a beer. The $10 drink which was recommended, has a splash of Titos and some pineapple juice. Hardly worth the ten bucks. I get the same salad as always, the Pub salad and husbanded ordered a chicken sandwich. 45 minutes later our food arrived. I would have had another kind of drink, but the waitress never came back until we got our food. The salad was ok, but the usually sauteed peppers were raw, just warmed and she forgot the dressing which again I had to wait for. We checked out at 1:58 PM after now having to wait for our bill. TWO hours for a quick lunch on a slow Saturday. Probably won't be back in the...
