First, let me begin by saying, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, I visited during the lull between lunch and supper, which is never the optimal time for buffets, so this may factor into my experience. The atmosphere was typical of Midwestern Chinese buffet, in need of a remodel, but that has never really bothered me personally. I like my Chinese places to have some age and that worn in feel. The food was not the same quality as a places like China Express in Effingham, but for a small city of only 5000 (40% effys size), it wasn't bad. Could use more spice and flavor in my opinion, but you must also take in the factor, that many Chinese restaurants tweek their food to the locals preferences, so this may just be how Shelbyvillians like their Asian food. I liked the style of lomein noodles they use, the ones a little wider than a lot of places use. But overall, the food was just ok. In conclusion, this place isn't too bad for a small city. Food could have more flavor, and is probably better during the lunch and dinner rushes. First time eating here but enjoyed it alot. Very friendly staff and definitely clean. They make you wash your hands each time before going to the buffet. I love that!!! At least I know if people listen to the sign and wash their hands each time then I know it's not as likely that I'll get sick. I am rewriting this review. The first one I wrote was not that good. This place was a great place to eat. But we had a bad experience with someone they employed there. And that person no longer works there. When I told them what happened. They said they know whom I was talking about. Anyway. The staff there are the absolute best. We come in. They know what we want.
