Wow. You know that moment when you find the place that does food, vibes, service exactly the way you’d want your biggest accomplishment of life celebration spot or wedding or future restaurant endeavor. It’s not something that can be sought out- it has to find you. And find me this place did, upon happenstance during a trip to Olympic national park. Beautiful outdoor seating along a live edge, stunning slab of wood that seats 20 people? Check. Or shadey outdoor / indoor spots if you wish? Yes. Floral arrangements with unique quirky picks from some local garden? Oh yes. Now let’s get to the food. An incredible drink selection, with an extensive wine, cider, and beer menu that will guarantee you find something to your taste and something to perfectly pair with your meal. Some more unique ciders on the menu too, from lavender huckleberry, to shiso, to pear. Oh and some beer made with oysters to go all in on the oyster motif. The food is a winner. A short and sweet menu that has quite a few Vietnamese inspired entrees that are apparently a homage to a chef that partnered with the owner. The curry, egg rolls, and hoisin laced oysters are all very respectable homages indeed, adding up to be better than many Asian dishes I’ve had at properly Asian restaurants. They have some surprise and delight dishes as well, such as geoduck ceviche. Finally if you just want a simple salad with seafood, can do. This was weirdly a VERY good salad - with very fresh ingredients and a dressing that has been absolutely perfected. We went here twice during our 4 day stay in the Hamma Hamma area and wanted to go a 3rd time but they were temporarily closed. Get here if you’re in the area STAT!

I rarely rave over any restaurant, because I feel a restaurant to get 5 stars has to be practically perfect. This restaurant deserves 5 stars. Maybe 6 stars for service. Oysters were incredibly fresh and harvested from their family farm. I got a crash course on “tumbled” oysters and how it gives them their smooth shells (never heard of these before today). Served with what appears to be a house-made garnish instead of the typical horse radish. Their garnish was pink and had shallots, fish sauce, and other ingredients. Very refreshing. Many dishes had a slight Asian bent to them, which was very enjoyable and unexpected. The curry was delicious and served with large meaty mussels. The coconut shrimp (usually a hard pass at most restaurants) were large prawns that looked battered and fried in-house. My son couldn’t stop talking about them and even left the table to tell the staff how good it was. Finally, all of the staff were incredibly welcoming and warm to my 6 and 3 year old. One gentleman who may have been the manager/owner came over to see if he could get my son to try a raw oyster. He explained in terms that my six year old could understand, what flavors and textures to expect. I honestly thought it was futile, but my son did tried it! He didn’t love it but he didn’t hate it! The explanations (and a bribe of a free ice cream code) did the trick! Will be coming back soon! Feel so lucky to find this place. Random comment: the flowers on each table were fresh cut and stunning!

Saturday, 10/19/2024 - We tried Fjord Oyster Bank.l rrestaurant. We were hungry and saw this place. Address is 24341 US-101, Hoodsport, WA 98548. Parking was a little hard for us to find. But! On the other side of the building the stores there were closed. So we parked there and walked over. It was a short walk over a beautiful, little creek. Upon arrival....

Pros

  1. cute little restaurant. There's seating inside. Inside was like 180 to 200sq ft (where you sit and eat area). Estimate.
  2. there was outdoor seating too. It was like 200sq ft. Just an estimate. There were fireplaces to keep you warm and a nice view. The trees are changing colors this time of year, so it was beautiful (even tho it was raining).
  3. we checked inside the restaurant to get seated. The two ladies that helped us so very nice and smiling. We put ourselves on the guest list. We didn't even have to wait. Got seated right away.
  4. restaurant inside and outside looked clean and tidy. The table outside had real big and pretty flowers in their vases.
  5. our server was a very nice gentleman. He took our orders down without having to write it down. We got water. Water tasted great. No funky taste.
  6. The waitress checked on us to make sure we had water to drink. We had a few server checked on us to make sure everything was ok. Great customer service!!!
  7. we ordered the Sautee Beef Strip, Clam Chowder, and Asian Crab Cakes. All came beautifully presented.
  8. These dishes are fusion flavors. Beef Strip dish (had celery and shredded carrots) was very good. A little on the too salty side, but still good. Came with a little bowl of steam white rice. The rice helped balanced the saltiness.
  9. Asian Crab Cake had pork in it. We should have read what's in it. We were expecting just Crab cake. But when we bit into it, we thought it was a little different. Read what was in it and it's pork and crab. It was still good. But we weren't used to the pork in it. The salad that came with it was great!
  10. bread and butter was good. Clam chowder was different. More herb-y and very potatoe-y tasting. Not your traditional clam chowder. It was still very good. But we were looking for some traditional clam chowder. We did eat the whole bowl. It was still good, like I said.
  11. they serve ice cream if you have room for dessert.
  12. one bathroom for both male or female. Very clean.

Cons

  1. as mentioned above, the Beef Strip dish was on the too salty side. But rice helped balanced the saltiness.
  2. we weren't expecting pork in the Crab cake. We should have read the description.

Conclusion This restaurant is very cute. There's a creek right next to it and the view is lovely. This time of year, the leaves are changing colors, so it's a beautiful scene outside. Restaurant looked clean. Water tasted good. Foods good. Service great! Bathroom clean. Parking was a little hard for a big truck. We had a trailer. But, if you ever pass by this restaurant,...

My family and I came to this establishment and quickly a waitress approached us and told us that we needed a reservation and told us to wait. Even though there were empty tables inside and outside. Then as we waited outside a waiter asked if we wanted to eat there and he assured us that we could be seated inside. Then another waitress came and told us that she would see if there was a table outside. Then she returned and said that there were no tables available. I told the waitress that we will find another restaurant to eat at, that would take us. It was sad to face prejudice as we had money to spend and wanted to eat a nice meal as we were camping all week in Dosiwalluops State Park and wanted to end our week on a good note. We told our daughter that sometimes in life you will face prejudice but that it's best to dust off your feet and keep going. We were accepted at El Puerto De Ángeles and had a wonderful meal there.ps...there were no reservation markers on the two tables inside and 8 plus tables outside.

Updated response to owners reply. Today my family and I stopped at Hama Hama Oyster saloon. There was about 100-150 people there and when we arrived we were welcomed promptly and we ordered oysters and dungeness crab in a timely manner even though the place was busy. Each staff member explained the seating to us. Our service was very professional and our food was exceptional. We even bought T-shirts that had Hama Hama logos on them as we always try to support local businesses. During the week we also ate at The Halfway House restaurant in Brinnon and the owner was gracious enough to go out of his way to make us feel welcome and he even gave a small toy to our daughter which meant the world to her. After our delicious meal at the Halfway House Restaurant, we even bought a T-shirt and a sweatshirt to promote this wonderful establishment. I hope that you will learn from my review and try not to insult me as a customer but yet take our experience and learn from it. Reviews are meant to be learned from and not meant to insult the customer who made the review but yet try to get them to return and accommodate them...
