I ordered the chef special, soft shell crab panang curry. I took one bite of the crab and it tasted awful, rubbery. I poured the sauce over my rice and ate that as it was the only thing that wasn't undercooked. When I informed the server that the crab was awful and I couldn't eat it she just stared at me like "what do you want me to do about it?" So, I asked if she would take it back, box it up with some rice so that I could see if my sister (she recommended the restaurant) could try and eat it (she took one bite and had to throwit out). The server did take it, box it up and then charged us for a side order of rice (what a rip off). My wife got the beef Pad Thai which she ate but did not particularly enjoy. I tried some and my opinion was that the beef was rubbery. I wouldn't have eaten it. After it was all said and done we had to pay nearly $70!!!! For an utterly awful meal. The real cherry on top was when I got home and my wife and I spent most of our evening on the toilet (I eat curry often but this was clearly food poisoning). Terrible service! Terrible food! Too bad as the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I hope this review can help you avoid wasting your money and...
Read morePicked up a take out order this evening. Have had issues previously with this place with items paid for not being in bag and/or prepared incorrectly. As I was signing the check I advised the host/server that I would not leave a tip for take out, only for dine-in. I thought that would be more courteous than just walking out without tipping. It was a $60 order. This "dude" gave me this STIIIIINK look of "entitlement" like he was offended. "Dude" even tried to stare me down...
Well, what this "dude" doesn't know is that I run a local business and have several clients that come through every week that need food. I have GREAT relationships with pretty much all of the local establishments, and me and my friends/clients spend above average in town to support local businesses. I will no longer recommend this place, nor will I personally ever patron.
This "dude" and Kome can stick their entitlement where the sun...
Read moreDirty dishes, old fishes, and my brother-in-law brought to his knees after eating here. We are all big eaters and could not stomach this. My sister enjoyed her drunken noodles, but those of us who looked down the barrel of the spicy tuna roll are suffering the consequences. After eating clearly old fish (the price obligated us to finish) we couldn’t finish the rest of our plates which is a first for this crowd. I think it was the combo of raw fish past its prime and thinking about the crusty food specks we found on our plates. I really don’t know how this place has 4.5 stars. The restaurant that used to be here, Kazu, was dirty but delicious, so we thought we would give this new place a chance. I thought the service at Kome was fine, and the ambiance was whimsical. If like us, you find yourself hungry in Shepherdstown with no other place to go, I would just firmly advise...
