James Rumsey Monument — Attraction in Shepherdstown

I walk here almost daily and it’s so fun. There’s this huge rock near the wall and you can climb on top of it . It’s so fun to watch the trains go by then run to the train tracks to see it up close. Also just looking at the water is so fun. And also, it is so fun to take pictures sitting at the monument and then when you get bored, you can walk to the playground and relive your childhood. I have been in Shepherdstown so many times but I never noticed this little park hidden away until I decided to explore the town. The park was mostly vacant which made sense because it was near dinner time. The monument is huge. You walk up the steps to it and you can see a long way in the distance and your view is pretty spectacular. I bet it is even better...

The Rumsey Monument has some great views and a good bit of open grass to come and do whatever you want. There are a couple of pics tables and benches to use and a big rock which is easy to climb and relax on.
