I wrote a 3 star review a year ago and said I'd eventually give this place another chance. I did, Now it's a one star review.
After the way these women treated my father, a disabled American veteran that struggles just to leave the house but was actuality excited to pick up a cake we'd ordered for his anniversary, I find it hard to remain civil and follow Google's conduct/review policies.
This service was appalling. Getting a cake that's already been paid for and interacting with an angry cashier shouldn't make my father miss combat, or second guess the sacrifices he's made for his country just to be treated as garbage by an entitled, angry woman. We have no idea what he could have done. Did these women hate him because he's disabled? A veteran? A man? A local middle school teacher and pillar of the community? Did somebody hurt them in the past, and my father is just some facsimile they can abuse as a means of righting the wrongs of their past and finding closure? In any case it doesn't seem fair to him. I spent nearly 100 dollars on a cake for my mother to enjoy, and my father, being a gentleman and devoted husband, went to go pick up this cake despite being in pain and having just left the VA hospital. What did he do to deserve this from them?
These women are so angry and for the life of me I have no idea why. I wouldn't put it past them to mess with the cakes or pastries of customers they hate, but that would seemingly be everybody. If you're willing to endure hatred, apathy, potential emotional abuse, and lousy service, by all means this place is for you. For my family... it's not worth it. Especially...
Read moreIt pains me to leave moderate reviews since I know all small businesses are trying really hard right now esp during the pandemic, but I hope this gets to the owners. Got a few slices of cake, which were absolutely gorgeous to look at, but in the end, disappointing to this cake lover and small business supporter.
Tiramisu: this was beautiful to look at and a good size for the price. But as I dug in, my plastic utensil bent out of shape because it was frozen on the inside. I turned out eating chunks of icy ricotta.
Carrot cake: again, beautiful to look at. But even though the flavor of carrot cake was there, it was so sweet that I had to put my fork down after two bites. Owners I promise you, I will come back to get the carrot cake again if you can put more effort into the carrot and raisin flavors as you do the amount of sugar dumped into the batter. Cakes donât need to be so sweet that my throat burns.
Chocolate cake: third cake I got and also gorgeous to look at. But again, it was more sweet than it was chocolate flavored. Again, it was so sweet my gums felt a little funny.
All in all, I want to support this business again as you can tell theyâre trying real hard! But to get me to be a return customer for your desserts, please know that thereâs a whole generation of dessert lovers who donât love things this sweet. Please note, this doesnât mean that I want artificial/natural sweetener substitutes (I donât)â it just means that we want to enjoy these cakes for their flavors, not their sugar intensity. Thanks...
Read moreMy daughter attends Shepherd University and has been coming to this shop a few times a week since college started in August to work on her school work. She purchases a tea and sometimes a sandwich to enjoy while she is there. She was there today when an older woman came up to her and told her she needed to order something if she was going to be using her Wi-Fi because she was costing her money. My daughter said she would be ordering something she just hadnât yet. She is there so much the employees know what she is going to order so itâs pretty obvious she buys something when she is there. The woman walked away and came right back and put her hand on my daughterâs shoulder and told her I mean right now, you need to order something right now or you need to leave. My daughter was so embarrassed because she said this loudly for everyone in the shop to hear. She wasnât at all nice about it. Just extremely rude. There were several tables open so it wasnât busy. She just obviously has a problem with young people. I hope other students realize what this woman thinks of college students and spend their money somewhere else. Neither I nor my daughter...
