Donut holes were pretty good. The maple bar was meh. Back in the day donuts used to be more substantial. These airy puffs of sweetness leaves you flat on substance. For me, Crispy Cream ranks the same. They weren't lacking for customers. The drive-in was three deep so I opted to go in. The interior needed a makeover but was clean enough that the promise of chomping on pillowy goodness had me averting my gaze. The folks behind the counter efficiently gathered goodies from the donut case and food orders from the back. What the donut lacked in stature was made up by their positive and personable customer service. Of course, I'll stop again when in town. Perhaps an apple fritter next time. I can never resist the warm cinnamon swirls of the fritter. They were sold out when I stopped....
