I sadly hate to have to edit my review of Taqueria El Primo. While i still love the street tacos of all varieties i sadly CANNOT say the same thing about their “Tamale plate” I visited Taqueria El Primo on Tuesday January 14th 2020 for taco Tuesday around lunch time (12 noonish) and i still love the Street tacos they are still really good and I hope they stay that way. But now on with the unfortunate part i came back the very next day on Wednesday January 15th 2020 for dinner around 5-6 pm and i was in utter disbelief with my food to say the least! I ordered the “Tamale” plate (pork) and the tamales were inedible. Im 99.9% sure that they were old and reheated in the microwave because my table in the restaurant had a clear view of the kitchen through the window in the door and the cook kept putting things in and out of the microwave for other peoples food/orders in the restaurant. I did not notice this at first because i was on my phone the whole time i was waiting for my food (lesson learned) but noticed this once my food arrived and put it down to eat. Some of My Tamales were hard due to overcooking in the microwave and some crumbled at the very touch of my fork and the meat inside was very dark almost black in color as well as Super Greasy. They looked and tasted terrible! I already knew what the outcome would be but i had to confirm the POOR Excuse for a Tamale! The beans that came with my plate were also a disappointment! They were really soupy and unappetizing! Tge Spanish rice that also came with my plate had no flavor whatsoever just completely bland and flavorless!! I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this representation of a good “Tamale plate”! I learned to stick with the Street tacos and those i will be back for 100% but as far as the Tamale plate STAY AWAY! If a restaurant cant offer a certain item fresh everyday then that restaurant should remove said item from their menu or at the very least make them a daily or weekend special! I give Two thumbs up 👍 for their Tacos 🌮 but Two thumbs down 👎 frown☹️ for the Sad tamale plate!!!! I know you can do better Taqueria El...
Read moreDisappointed as the Google comments may have encouraged me too much. It was authentic Mexican, as I expected...and wanted, and not Tex-Mex but I would rate it mediocre, at best. I ordered the Asada Tortas which was supposed to come with lettuce, cheese, beans, sour cream, guacamole and tomato. They were out of guacamole. The sour cream tasted more like watered down mayonnaise (which comes with the Tortas-El Primo) and I could not detect a hint of any type of cheese at all. It was very heavy lettuce and a weak amount of meat. The side order of rice was plentiful but was room temperature and almost sweet in taste. The choices of drinks was close to non existent as the drink cabinet was almost empty. Diet coke, Dr. Pepper, bottled tea and apple juice were the only options. We weren't even offered the options of juices from another set of machines over on the side. My wife had the chipolte chicken platter and she did get a generous helping of chicken and the chipolte was spicy-good. The rice and beans were room temperature as well. The bottled tea was exceptionally strong...almost to a fault. We do not...
Read moreI eat here at least three or four times a week (Caveat) it's super close to my house but it's super tasty. It's not American Mexican or even Tex Mex. It's authentic Mexican. I've taken two friends with Hispanic/Mexican upbringing and they both gave it two thumbs up as "just like mom's". So the food is excellent and very well priced. There are a few small tables that you can sit at for a sit down experience, they take credit cards, and have a drive through. So it's a win-win kind of experience. They do pretty brisk business but it can be a little slow when they are busy but not slow enough to leave or walk out. You can eat here faster than you can anywhere else locally even when it's busy for lunch or dinner. The "red" ketchup bottle isn't ketchup it's their in house 'hot' sauce so be careful if you can't handle the heat. The in house 'green' sauce is to die for. Try it out. You will not be...
