Went a lot prior to March 2020 and enjoyed it. Ever since then our experience has gotten progressively worse to the point I feel obligated to leave a review and I don't do very many reviews at all. This last night 1/2/22 was the last straw for me. I understand the staffing but everyone is dealing with it and somehow this particular Zaxby's can't handle a few cars in the drive thru. Every time we go it's like making a commitment because we know that if there's cars in the drive thru we'll be waiting a while and this establishment hasn't had their dining room open for closing in on 2 years now so I can't understand how they struggle so much with the drive thru. We went last night and sat in line for probably half an hour with the last 15-20 minutes of the line not moving at all so we just left and went to McDonald's. It's like this every single time we go with us putting the car in park whenever the line moves a little so until the dining room opens and lines are dealt with in a reasonable fashion we won't be back which on our own may not put a dent in this owner's pocketbook but from the looks of the reviews before me we aren't the only ones losing patience.
Update 8/22/24: The place just opened back up a few months ago after being closed for a while so I decided since it was new management I'd try it again. The food is really good so no complaints there as that's a definite upgrade from before the shut down however for some reason the same problem of taking forever to get our food still persists. Went 8/14/24 on Wednesday at around 6pm and I was the only car in line and looked like no one dining in and ended up waiting literally 40 minutes to get my food. The only reason I stayed was I paid and didn't feel like going in to get a refund. When I left a dozen cars were in line and what seemed like half a dozen ended up pulling out and leaving. Went again today 8/22/24 and there were 8 cars in line and everyone being told to pull up and wait for their order. What is the deal with...
Read moreSlow doesn't begin to describe the speed at which the drive-thru moved. I was there since my wife requested chicken and crinkle fries, and Zaxbys is the obvious option. Yet when I arrived there was a line. Not an insurmountable obstacle indeed, sice it was a scant 5 cars long. After 5 minutes I began to question if I had accidentally parked thinking it was the drive through. Alas no, others had lined up behind me to join in the Odyssian quest to please their wives. It was then, glory of glories that the line moved forward. But alas the movement was short lived. One car forward then a halt and a wait. This tortuous pace continued for every car in front of me. Five minutes per car. Then I reached the first milestone on my journey, the menu, and the opportunity to order. I quickly gathered my thoughts and ready to order I was met with a short static greeting, "please hold". I waited patiently another ten minutes, debating if Popeyes would be an acceptable alternative to this glacial service. Finally I said "hello?" At the speaker. I was met immediately with a bemused, "Go ahead and order whenever you want." Ten minutes later I received my food, but not my drinks. I was ready to show my back to this establishment that robbed me of my time in exchange for mediocre chicken fingers and fries. They even failed to put ranch into the containers. Like Odysseus I returned to my wife triumphant, but a...
Read moreAfter hearing that this place had reopened after being closed for over a year, we decided to stop by for Sunday lunch. The parking lot had a handful of cars, and only a few people were in line. It seemed well-staffed, with several employees behind the counter, so we didn’t expect a long wait.
Our group of five ordered, and about 10 minutes later, one of our plates was ready. Another 10 minutes went by without any sign of the remaining four orders, so we asked the cashier, who seemed unsure where our food was. Around this time, another customer returned to the counter with his order, noting that it looked like it had been sitting out — no longer fresh or crispy.
It took nearly 30 minutes before we finally had all our food. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t improve from there. They were out of both Ranch and Zax sauce, which was disappointing. The soda machine was practically empty, and the few available drinks tasted off, as if the syrup ratio was wrong. Our fries were cold and soggy by the time they reached us.
Adding to the overall poor impression, several tables were left cluttered with trays and trash that hadn’t been cleared the entire time we were there. Given the issues with both food and service, it seems the restaurant might have been better off staying closed if this is the quality...
