April 22, 2025. Food was great as always. BUT SERVER brought down the mood. She semed grumpy, not sure her name had glasses, shorter, lil hefty(not being mean just describing) 4 people at table. We all ordered our drinks, then she'd just walk off. Came back "you going to order yet?" Like we're taking all the time in the world. We'd been seated only a few minutes. We ordered food, she again nothing to say just walked away with an attitude. Came back with more chips set them on top of the bowl of few chips we still had, walked away yet again. A guy brought out our food, nicely and walked back into kitchen. I seen our server as she was walking out of the front bathrooms, I'm sure was tucking in her shirt, but seemed like digging in butt. Kinda of rancid. Do that in the bathroom and come out with shirt tucked, not digging in back of pants out in front of all customers. She'd bring refill for 2 of the 4 people. We'd say thank you every time she brought something over, then she'd just be grumpy and walk away. Does she hate her job? Go work somewhere else? Idk, don't bring your nonsense attitude to use, when we did nothing wrong to you. I left normal tip, just because I know the life. If We'd tipped on service it would've been a penny.

I assumed with as many locations this chain had in the Louisville Metro area, it had to be pretty good. I ordered the Pollo Mole. I love Mole, but this didn't taste like any Mole I've had before. Maybe it was canned sauce and I'm just used to freshly made Mole, but it wasn't that good.
Despite it being 7pm, the place was pretty empty. The staff was nice but they didn't seem like that wanted to be there (maybe the ones I encountered just weren't having a good day.)
Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't horrible, it just didn't meet my expectations. The service wasn't bad, it just wasn't going to win any awards. I would come here again if someone invited me, but if I was the one deciding where to go, it probably wouldn't...

My husband and I were visiting from out of town. We decided to try El Nopal because we were in the mood for Mexican and the reviews were good. We were not disappointed. The service was very good and welcoming. Our server was super sweet. In conversation my husband mentioned to her that our first date was on Valentines Day 18 years ago. After we finished our meal (which was VERY DELICIOUS), she brought out a complimentary dessert (pictured) for our anniversary (even though it was Feb 13th).
