I would like to first state that I rarely leave negative comments. You may review my google reviews as proof that this statement is TRUE. I work in the healthcare industry and understand that many things are typically transpiring behind the scenes that patients (customers in this case) aren’t privileged to knowing to understand the circumstances.
However, I do understand proper customer service and have personally been in the business of providing customer service since I was 13 years old (now 34yo).
My family of 3 visited the Applebee’s on Mansfield tonight after work/school approximately 8:23pm. We were sat in front of the bar in a booth.
We waited approximately 1 hour (without notice) before we were ever acknowledged.
Background: While waiting we observed 3 parties be seated and served. We inquired twice with two different employees to speak to a manager and the first one stated he would send someone over without following through. The second one simply stated he didn’t know where the manager was, and after further persistence, stated he’d find the manager after taking care of another customer. At least 4 employees passed our table without servicing us or noticing that we still had our menus after an hour of waiting with no drinks on the table. Zero attention to details.
We observed one of the employees (the second we asked for a manager) consistently mingling at a table next to ours and repeatedly serving them drinks with one of them also going to the back and seemingly making her own drink.
We still don’t know who was actually supposed to be our server, we just know that we weren’t the only ones with this complaint. We witnessed another party complain at least twice of the same service experience.
After an hour of waiting, my wife witnessed how helpful the bartender was for her patrons. Unfortunately, we had a minor with us and could not sit at the bar. Instead, my wife went to the bar and explained the issue to Kate. Without hesitation she apologized for the experience we’d had thus far, offered to take our orders on the spot, and continued to service us at our table throughout the remainder of our dinner as though she was responsible for our section even with a FULL bar and working solo. She was phenomenal! My vocabulary isn’t vast enough to depict the way she made us feel heard and understood. She was caring, showed compassion for our inconvenience, and took the time to make our problem her responsibility to solve! She displayed the epitome of proper customer service, and was consistently showing this level of commitment to ALL of her customers all night. We tipped her $20, and we can only HOPE she didn’t have to split it with anyone. If splitting tips is a company policy, it should seriously be reconsidered, because not everyone is working at the same level to ensure customer retention.
I’d also like to recognize Rico, the manager. After a 3rd request, the first employee did finally go get the manager for us to speak to. The manager was one of the staff that we had witnessed hustling all night and taking care of customers on the opposite side of the restaurant. He was incredible. Once notified of our situation (and the extraordinary customer service provided by Kate), he did ensure that we received our food fast and delicious as promised! He offered amenities to compensate for our trouble. We did not accept, but were grateful for his professionalism and consideration.
I’ve been a supervisor in the Air Force for 8 years and a prior manager in the fast food industry for 4 years. If I was secret shopper, this restaurant would have failed my rating tonight. Rico and Kate (emphasis on Kate) redeemed any hope I had remaining in this location’s values in customer relations. Rico and Kate were exceptional and should be recognized for caring about this business as if it were their own. Thank you two for taking care of me and my family!
Kate made my alcoholic beverage (the Tipsy Reindeer), 10/10 for taste. The cooks did a great job as well…order was correct, food was tender, flavorful, and hot...
Read moreI recently had an extremely unsettling experience at Applebee’s, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others about the unprofessionalism and lack of integrity that I encountered.
I received a call informing me that my order was ready. I made my way over, only to find out that my order was not ready at all. In fact, it seemed like they had no intention of serving me. It gave very much, playing in the kitchen, running around but it is a restaurant so i assumed they were just busy. Still there is no excuse for why i was lied to from the start. I was taken aback when they abruptly accused me of stealing someone’s card without any evidence or even asking for my side of the story.
The police were called on me without so much as a simple inquiry into the situation, to make matters worse. My car was searched without a warrant, leaving me feeling violated and humiliated. I can’t shake the feeling that this was all a setup to make a scene, as it is hard to believe that a legitimate business would treat a customer in such a manner.
Throughout the entire ordeal, not a single employee offered an apology or even to appease me as a dissatisfied and traumatized customer. This lack of empathy and professionalism left me feeling paranoid, deeply shaken, and in tears. What should have been a routine takeout experience turned into a distressing encounter with law enforcement, and the aftermath has made me wary of police interactions in general.
I genuinely hope that others can avoid a similar situation and that Applebees reassesses how they handle their customers. No one should have to experience the anxiety and fear that I felt during this incident. Save your time and money; there are far better places to dine where you will be treated...
Read moreFirst time ever dining at the Mansfield location, and will never return to this location. Where to start. 1st, I get that it's hot outside, but the AC was blasting at full force, so hard above our table, that water was dripping from the ceiling, as we both sat there shivering. The girl who sat us(obviously hates her job), didn't greet us in any kind of friendly manner, just grabbed 2 menus, and said "follow me". So then we order drinks and an appetizers. I ordered a margarita, because it was on a $3 drink special. When I ordered it, the waiter said "I'll have to see if we have them"?? The Buffalo wings appetizer was basically chicken nuggets on a plate with an insane amount of wing sauce . When I asked for steak sauce for my steak, again was told, " not sure if we have any, I'll have to check", and the menu said my steak came with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The broccoli was replaced with 8 green beans! The waiter came to the table probably every 2 minutes, asking if we needed anything, and everytime, would address my male companion as "boss man"(highly inappropriate). And when he wasn't doing that, him and 2 other employees were hanging out in front of the empty table beside ours, talking and laughing so loud that it was hard for us to hear one another. No wonder there was only about 8 other people in the...
