If incompetence were a sport, this Dairy Queen would be undefeated. What should have been a quick five-minute ice cream pickup turned into a 45-minute mental endurance test in which I was effectively held hostage by employees who seemed allergic to problem-solving.
I placed a mobile order, arrived at the drive-thru, and gave my name—simple, right? Not here. Instead of handing me my order, the employees acted like I had just asked them to explain the theory of relativity. They asked to see my receipt. Fine. I showed them the receipt, store number, proof of purchase—everything. And yet, I was informed that my order “didn’t exist” in their system.
Oh, but it exists in my system. Right here. On my phone. With a charge on my bank account.
Instead of just making my order, they told me to pull around and wait indefinitely. Wait for what, exactly? A fax from corporate? A ceremonial blessing from the Dairy Queen council?
Frustrated, I went inside, where I was promptly ignored for ten minutes by multiple employees, despite one of them loudly announcing that a customer was waiting. Eventually, the manager emerged—a person whose leadership skills could only be described as actively making the situation worse.
She explained that, despite my proof of purchase, she couldn’t give me my order because of “inventory.”
Let’s pause.
The food exists. I’ve paid for it. It’s sitting in the freezer. But because their system hadn’t updated yet, I was expected to stand there like a statue in a Dairy Queen hostage situation until some unseen force allowed them to hit a button?
After nearly 40 minutes of this nonsense, I finally snapped and said, “I don’t even care about the money, I just want to leave.”
And suddenly—like magic—the manager realized she could, in fact, give me my order.
So she could have done this the entire time, but instead, she chose to waste nearly an hour of my life over a system error that was 100% their fault.
Between the glacial speed of the staff, the lack of accountability, and the overall atmosphere of confusion and indifference, I can confidently say that this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.
If you enjoy wasting your time, getting ignored, and fighting for the food you already paid for, this is the place for you. If not, go...
Read moreFamily of 5 from Oklahoma here. Stopped at DQ in Shreveport, when walking in expected to be greeted and order taken fairly quickly.
Resteraunt was new and clean from exterior, and parking lot was relatively empty with just a few cars. Walked in to lobby where there were 6 customers standing around waiting. I started asking people if they had ordered or waiting on food.
First guy says, "I've been here for ~5 minutes and no one's came out of back". I could hear loud talking and laughter, and I smiled when I saw a young kid, maybe 19 yo just working his tail off cooking. He turned to set food orders on counter and could see over and said "sorry, they'll be with you in a second". If not for that young man, we would have left.
Anyway, I turned to an older lady and said ma'am have you ordered, and she said "no, I'm after him and these other people are waiting on their orders". Finally, a few minutes later, a lady in blue shirt walks out and says "who next?". I was so surprised, not even a quick "apology for the wait, who next?".
She took first guys order and was hollering back at other workers, then walked off. Another guy eventually walked in via front doors a minute or 2 later and took the lady before us and my family's order, which was $60.
Simply put, there's no leadership, no accountability, and thus no customer service or care.
I will say, they may have been short handed until the guy walked in and took the orders, but I've seen much busier places...
Read moreIt says they’re open at 10 and we get there at 1037 and all she rudely says is “we’re closed” and we had to ask when they open. We decided to wait til 11 and she’s still rude on the speaker, she says the ice cream isn’t ready and then we see the people in front of us get handed ice cream, we asked for burgers (not cheeseburgers) with ketchup only and we get home and it has cheese and pickles on it, asked for no ice in our drink and there was ice. Sometimes this place is okay but they do mess up orders a lot and are frequently rude. We know there’s a camera at the drive thru so we know to act nice or we’re worried what they’ll do to our food. - 8 months ago
Took way too long and for no reason. Took a long time to even order, then longer to get our order. We get our order and once again there’s ice when I requested no ice. Received a small blizzard when ordered a medium, and both blizzards were a mess. We had to pull into a spot to clean up the ice cream dripping from the lids all over my hands, pants, and...
