Well we tried it. They go out of their way to NOT post flavors online or on any signage inside, this should be fixed. Overall impression, it is not quite what I hoped but it's okay.
My son didn't care for the sourdough base. It didn't bother the rest of us, or couldn't really see much of a difference. Didnt have everything I wanted so I ended up being forced into buying a 39 dollar mixed dozen. Oreo, pralines, were all good. Regular chocolate, what little they had tasted just like a more moist Dunkin donut (if you like that). The Pauline doughnut we got had been oversalted in parts and tasted slightly burnt sugar. Absolutely not good. Made my wife a little nauseous. We had this same doughnut at the revel before and it was really good. Pretty disappointing.
I tried the Kolaches, they have a very fragrant herb on top, kind of off putting. The down home sausage was good, it just didn't work for me. For the 5.50 they charged id be much happier getting them from southern maid. I can get 4 more flavorful ones for the same price (and they are hot).
Update: well I tried their spicy chicken sandwich. It's a chicken sandwich with hot sauce put on top of it. It has a good hunk of meat as well breaded. It's actually pretty impressive standard chicken sandwich. I have to admit I don't care for just slapping some generic hot sauce on the top and calling it hot. I much prefer having spice in the breading, tends to be more natural flavor. The fries were good. Overall pretty decent but nothing to write home about.
Overall it's worth trying. Southern Maid wins in every way especially price. Krispy Kreme would easily too. Take that for...
Read moreI am shocked at how many positive reviews this restaurant has. The environment is trendy and clean which is its strongest point. Another positive was the coffee which was good, but the food was downright horrible. We ordered a 4 piece tender with the hot sauce ON THE SIDE. We received the order and the strips had been tossed in the sauce. Proceeded to eat them instead of pitching a fit. The young girl taking our order wasn't very attentive anyway so I should have expected as much. I love very spicy food but spicy food becomes bad when they go for spice over flavor which is exactly what happened with these tenders. Secondly, they are labeled as "large" on the menu. Two were what I would call normal sized and the other two were basically nuggets. The fries are nothing special at all and thank God ketchup was invented is all I can say about that. My wife got the Nashsville and the bottom of the bun was too soggy to enjoy. Flavor just was not there. Finally, we got two donuts, a plain glazed and a chocolate, just basic with little flavor. I really do not see how this place is still in business. Finally, all of this was $40 which is ludicrous! Maybe just ditch the food menu and stick...
Read moreThis specialty donut shop is located on the corner of Market Street and Texas Street in downtown Shreveport. They do have "normal" donuts but even those are double stacked compared to our local favorite donuts. When you walk in, it's very welcoming with the colors on the wall, seating and even a few donut books to read while you're there. The guy behind the counter was very friendly. They have all kinds of crazy flavors and toppings. Peach Bellini, pecan praline, banana pudding, cookies and cream were some of the flavors I grabbed. They are thick, fluffy and delicious! They are more expensive than traditional donuts but Again, these are not a normal donut shop. They are big and rich in flavor! The front door is Handicap accessible. Cool place to meet up for a chat. Now if you've read this far, then you deserve to know that Happy hour half price donuts start at 2pm until they close at 4pm during the week.. I got 6 donuts for $7.50 😉🍩...
