Stopped by when they were opening the store. The store itself was ok, it use to be other restaurants here so I was familiar with the place. The kitchen is a rather small area and the dining so the bbq/smoke pit sits in the parking lot in front of the store. Everything smelt great walking past it. The cook at the pit was friendly. The cashier/host lady spent most of her time on her phone. Alot of items were not ready or available, I guess because it was so early. I got a 3 meat plate, which by comparison is more expensive than Podnuh, comparable to Shane's pricing. Portion wise, perhaps a little more than those two restaurants. I ordered sausage, brisket, ribs, Mac & cheese, and beans. As they put the food together, I watched them heat my order up in the microwave. So, needless to say, the brisket & ribs on top were dried out. The ribs had good flavor & were still tender but the seasoning was so thick that you could taste the grittiness of it. The sausage was ok. The Mac & cheese was a bit flavorless imo. It was sitting in what appeared to be water, but definitely needed some salt & pepper. The beans were solid, not the best i have ever had but good. Best part of the order, flavorwise, the beans & the ribs (if you like that gritty taste). I said I would try again but for something else on their menu as they did have...
Read moreFound on-line while traveling from Texas to Alabama. So glad we stopped!! We had chopped brisket sandwiches, which were delicious. Sauce was one of the best I’ve had at a restaurant — slightly sweet, tomato based. Veggies were extremely well-seasoned — a delicate blend so seasoning just accented the vegetables. The green beans and sweet potatoes were both exceptionally good. Ribs were also really good - very tender with a salty rub (perfect with the addition of the sauce) And the gumbo? I was too stuffed to try, but my husband raved about it. These people know how to run a restaurant. Guests are greeted warmly and kindly, even as take-out orders keep them bustling. The chef/owner and his daughter checked on us, and the other clients, numerous times throughout lunch, often calling people by name. The southern hospitality and food, obviously made with love, are definitely worth detouring off I20 at Exit 10. About 1.2 miles from the exit in a shopping center. Look for the sign with a big fat pig on it, cause that’s how you’ll leave - fat and happy, especially if you try their delicious,...
Read moreMr. Kenneth Cotton has some of The Finest BBQ to be had in Shreveport. We are blessed to have his restaurant and catering business on the West Side! Thank you, sir, for your culinary talents. And I sincerely thank you for your service to our country for our freedom! This was not my first visit. But it was my first time to try the Brisket Supreme sandwich. Oh my heavenly lord! Was it ever good! It should also be called "The 20 napkin sandwich! " It had so much brisket I had to pull a few pieces off just so I could fit it in my (big) mouth 😆 Plus coleslaw, pickle slices, and very finely sliced onion. And sauced just right -not too much, and not too little. And although costs are high all over right now, you certainly get a large amount of food for the price. Mr. Cotton does not skimp on quality or quantity. One does have to see his Facebook page to get the daily menu, and to find out his operating hours because he does do large catering jobs at times. And he does run out of things that are daily specials, like oxtails, which my friend had and are divine. Go and enjoy...
