Podnuh's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Shreveport

Gives an old BBQ joint vibe but that’s where the experience dies. The young lady taking our order seemed preoccupied and had us repeat the order FOUR times stopping to do other things. The wait wasn’t long; I would have preferred to wait for freshly prepared ingredients. We ordered BBQ pulled pork (it was dry) and other than the Smokey aroma, left something to be desired. We also ordered two loaded baked potatoes. Neither box was labeled so if there was an allergy or dietary restriction, there was NO consideration given to packaging our order. The potato was over cooked and dry. A layer of semi-melted cheese was over the top hiding the meat surprise underneath. What we received was an UNLOADED potato with minimal meat and condiments such as butter and prepackaged sour cream come on the side. If I wanted to load my own potato, I would have gone to a buffet. Our potatoes weren’t warm enough to melt the butter. We had to reheat the already dry potatoes. Our sides were in mini kid sized containers the size of a flat pickle chip. Finally, there was NO BBQ SAUCE with our order!! Who does that?

The only folk that don’t require BBQ sauce with their BBQ are the ones that really know how to cook meat so juicy it falls off the bone. That is NOT what you get at Podnuh’s. The service from everyone was superb but the food n drinks tasted funny. I didn’t even eat my food hardly n just took it home. Even the BBQ sauce had a funny taste to it. Potato salad had too much mustard. The meat was good without the sauce but we prefer the sauce. The BBQ beans have always been phenomenal but not today. The sodas even tasted yuck. I felt nauseous which I haven’t been feeling bad in a long time nor around anyone sick. I later ate the rest of my food at home yesterday evening and this morning when I was fixing to leave for work I started throwing up. I started to leave again n ran back to the bathroom. I still went to work feeling yucky n stopped once to throw up again n nauseous n work sent me home. I’m feeling better now that all that is outta my system but it was all the BBQ I had eaten yesterday. Such a huge disappointment because we had been craving BBQ n we had a choice of Shane’s or Pohnuh’s. Podnuh’s has always been my favorite so I choice them. Never again. I have boycotted going to that particular one. The only good thing was everyone was nice. I didn’t bother saying anything to anyone cuz like I said I was feeling bad right after eating it and ready...

Had the slice beef sandwich. It was alright but not good. Felt unsatisfied with the meal. It had little flavor and the brisket was a little chewy. Having a bbq background I know it needed more cooking time, smoke flavor and seasoning. Basically more pit time. It was crying for that smoke pink ring. The waitress sounded like she was frustrated from the beginning to the end. We asked for condiments and she’s tossed them on the table. She was in a rush and it was slow. Don’t know what it was with the attitude. Made us feel rushed to get our order. Coming from Texas I tried this place before due to a where I work. Even the locals don’t really recommend this place. And both times they failed me. At this point I feel like this location is a you get what you paid for place. I will try another location of this business.
