Strange Brew LLC — Restaurant in Shreveport

I was banned from this establishment, despite only ever behaving myself there, because apparently some shows had to be canceled due to "drama".

This can only be in reference to my decision to speak out against someone that got themselves banned from several other venues by threatening violence, one time with a firearm, and attempting to see justice for the reported SA of someone I cared about very much. Apparently this led to them having to cancel some shows, and somehow, instead of banning the person that has proven themselves to be an actual threat, they chose to ban the person that stood up for the integrity of his community, and has a track record of doing so, which can be backed by every venue owner and performer in this city with a shred of integrity.

I am respected, even lauded, at essentially every other venue in Shreveport for the exact traits that see Strange Brew now banning me. I cut Trey's grass for three years, and his own backyard, and despite the fact that I have proven myself trustworthy regarding this establishment at every possible turn, I am ignored, and banned without so much as a conversation, or a chance to speak up for myself.

This is political, based upon character assassination propagated via hearsay, unprofessional and misguided. If the truth is enough to get banned from this kind of place, then it isn't the kind of place any good or honest person should spend their time. This is frankly ridiculous, and I am hurt by the backwardness, cowardice and insult to my character on display by daring to ban me on the basis of "drama".

I have always paid my tab, always tipped, and at times I could have justifiably made a major stink about serious serious violations against me, and others, that have occurred on the premises.

I will undo this review and walk back all negative comments if I am at least given the common decency and respect of being spoken to directly about this ban. I don't really care about actually being allowed back. The place really ain't my vibe.

Monday at the open mic was the first time I had been there in two years, because someone contracted to them literally took advantage of me while I was drunk and they were sober, but instead of going after them, I decided to be compassionate, and give grace, and incur the loss myself. I also tried to give Trey the grace he has denied me by waiting and giving him time to talk to me like a big boy. I was denied this.

For a place that's supposed to be all about vibes, that's pretty lame. Also, your microphones there smell like you've been dipping them in the toilets.

This ban is a shameful symptom of a deep vein of corruption and moral bankruptcy that permeates every corner of our “community” under the guise of “just business”. It is because I stand up to abuse and refuse to be silent about it.

My ID was expired (my 35th birthday was 13 days previous) and the bouncer suggested I renew my license online and then download and install the LA Wallet app for a legal digital ID. He informed me it was free until the end of May and I should be good. So after spending $60 to renew, which included online fees and the motorcycle endorsement even though I don't own one, the new fancy Louisiana Wallet ID app failed to register. My emailed receipt informed me that it was proof that my ID was up to date, but I was still refused entry. After informing my friends as to why I left after they saw me at the door, they also suggested the Wallet ID app. To their surprise, they found out I already tried this. I stayed outside sitting on a bunch for 45 min hoping that it just took time for the servers to update to show that I renewed it. This did not happen. I found out that my lawyer friend was in town and when I asked for legal action to gain me entry, he told me no. At this point I found out the friends I met left. So another friend said I could come hang out at their house but it would cost me a 6 pack of beer. When I asked my friend to lawyer me out of jail for trying to sneak out beer without paying to hang at a friend's, I was denied again. Spent 8 hours here (because my husband is in a band that was playing) on Sat: venue is super cool, beer selection is out of this world, food is not great but let's be honest-no one is coming for the food lol. There was a good food truck right outside the front door. Population was super diverse, the music they played between bands was like house/club mixes of familiar songs, bartenders were great, security was nice and attentive.
