I feel like this experience left me wanting more. The name had me excited from the start, although I found no traces of jalapeños in the food, prep area, or anywhere for that matter. As you walk in, the place is very clean and obviously new. The signage, seating, and atmosphere felt identical to a Qdoba. We wanted to eat in, but there wasn’t a whole lot of room to seat 5 unless you pulled two bar tables together. The staff was very polite and happy to greet us. I found it interesting that everyone shared the same duties (taking orders, making food, adding sides, packing to go containers). It seemed somewhat disorganized and as a result, I failed to receive the guac I paid extra for, I got the wrong kind of rice, and was missing a side of pinto beans. Nonetheless, when we sat down to eat, we found the entree portion sizes to exceed expectations. The huge shrimp burrito was a 5 star entree with shrimp popping out of every bite. The ground beef tacos (3) were good but more of a fresh answer to Taco Bell. The nachos were plentiful, but left much to be desired (It’s topping was similar to the taco filling, but with a smidge of sour cream and cheese sauce, p.s. no jalapeños). The kids meal was 1 taco, rice, beans. All of the sides came in “sauce” sized containers, kids meal included. To sum it up, I would rather go here than Qdoba and yes I plan to go back (for burritos or maybe tacos with a different protein). Knowing they are just starting out, I do hope they improve their processes. It’s always great to have another dinner option...
Read moreJalapenos Mexican Grill is a surprisingly pleasant discovery in the area. The food is great depending on what you like. I think the burritos are the best choice I've made so far. I typically order with extra meat to fill it out fat! The chimichangas are likely good for those who prefer them, but I wasn't a fan of the fried taste. My son likes the tacos, but I think they're a little pricey and not loaded with all the things I would like. I have not yet tried the Peruvian specialties, but I hear they're great. The service is great - not perfect - but they make every attempt to serve you well. I had a problem with my order - once - and they were eager to correct it at no charge. Store is immaculately clean which tells me they definitely focus on all of the details that make for a quality establishment all around. Go get you some!!! UPDATE: Went back to try the Peruvian menu. Started with the Bistec a lo Pobre. A - MAZ - ING!! Absolutely delicious. I ate every last morsel of it and it was a very good size portion. Bistec was marinated and cooked to perfection. I've never had plantain, but it was pretty good. Lightly fried egg on top was an interesting touch, but also good. Even the fries on the bottom were good. Chef Esmail...
Read moreI’m usually never disappointed when I order something here, but today changed that.
If you order something for takeout, before you step away from that counter, take everything out of that bag, open the container(s), then open your tacos/burritos/chimichanga right there, and make sure it’s right. I get home and they left an ingredient off..: no big deal. I don’t live far. I call and tell them expecting them to say sorry and that I can come pick up a new order that’s correct.
Not what happened. The first person I talked to interrogated me and was utterly confused about what I was saying and gave the phone to the owner who then proceeded to tell me the beans come on the side. Ok I don’t care if they come on the side, the problem is I DONT HAVE THEM AT ALL. NOT IN THE BAGS THEY STAPLED TOGETHER AND GAVE ME. they told me I can come pick up the side of beans. But I’ll do one better and take this as another disappointing lesson learned. Every food place in this area seems to be very incompetent lately.
But I’m guessing here’s my sign to stop getting takeout.
(The pics are of their chicken tacos. They come with lettuce and cheese on them and a side of sour cream and pico de gallo. My dog...
