The environment is busy. An uncomfortable busy. Then there was an employee making some sort of an announcement extremely loud and then make a wooooo noise at the end. It happened several times. It was loud in there to begin with. We had a sub and bowl made and this made it so difficult to hear each other to place our orders with the staff. Super annoying.

Customers were very pushy too. Not typical OG Sarasota peeps that's for sure. Nothing the store is to blame for this though. Just throwing it out there so you might be prepared for a very stressful shopping ezpiernece. Parking has been horrific since day one. Not enough and set up poorly. Handicap spaces appear to be so close to the flow of traffic that it feels like you may get hit. Prices are decent.

90/10 ground beef that was on sale for $5.99lb wasn't the best quality. Kind of gritty tasting as a burger. The peaches had a weird white powder on them. They were cold from the cooler and place near the door which was allowing heat / humidity in and on them. Could have been the start of mild. Not peach fuzz. Tomatoes are stacked high and there are tons of soft spots. I appreciate the fact they carry a local dairy farm Milk. The sub was ok. Bread was soft and decent. The bowl was full and decent.

It was a cluster feel like a Costco. I dont care for Costco because of the flow and the hustle bustle. Cashiers! Prob the biggest issue. You spend a good amount of time searching for decent produce only to have them man handle them tossing them into the bags. I do believe it isn't ok to place raw meat and carrots in the same bags. Something an inspector might have to write them up for. Bread and potatoes should not be I. The same bag either.

I think training on this part is lack of management Not making sure these things dont happen. But think about this when bagging. Raw bloody meat does NOT! Go with anything fresh. Should be bagged alone. Bread that is fresh baked and soft! Does NOT go in with hard items like Potatoes. Groceries aren't cheap and well to be honest I'd like not to get sick from foods being bagged together that should not be. Maybe work.on this. No NOT maybe... work...

We went in at 7pm, after 30 minutes of shopping and a 3/4 full buggy, we went to check out. There were only 4 registers open and a line at each one. Grossly understaffed for a Saturday night in season. Once it was our turn, we unloaded all of our food onto the belt in order of weight, heavy items first and lighter items last, the way the bags should be loaded. I typically bag our groceries, tonight I was not allowed to bag by the employee. She insisted on bagging, taking my bags out of my hand. She proceeded to haphazardly bag our $100s of dollars worth of food, with zero respect as to proper bagging techniques. She loaded all of the heavy cold items into a single bag which broke the handles of the bag when we got home. After weighing it, 35lbs of groceries were put into this single bag. She bagged all the heavy vegetables on top of the more delicate fruits and veggies, crushing the entire bag. As we were leaving we asked to speak to a manager, we were then yelled at by an employee at a register asking what we wanted because they were busy. A manager finally came and proceeded to make excuses for the employee. Her solution to the problem was to give us some sort of gift card, that we promptly declined. It isn't about the money, it's about our food that we paid for and the way we were treated as customers. We've been going to Detwilers long before the Clark Rd store was open, never have we ever been treated so poorly. There was no respect or regard given to what we experienced. It is my hope and wish that this somehow will make it to the owners of Detwilers because I highly doubt this would be a normal scenario after the time and effort they have put into building their business in...

Too many additives to the food items. Carrageen is number one. I was hoping that the raw milk company would have heavy whipping cream, no, sorry, none. So I left to go to Publix no carrageen but it has gum Gar. Grrr. Why do the commercial companies seem to add weird words that were know not what they are, Not real food!! Seems Detwilers now add more chemicals to there food items. Plus, I purchased a filet, I ask whether it was raised, and was it grass fed and grass finished. Guy never knew.. Went to ask. It was a very simple answer. No, not great feed, did not know where it was raised.. I'll eat this small filet. But didn't I go back to purchase much there. People on the street, talk about living the Amish.. Yes, I do, too. But they are not educated to keep it simple and know they even advertise as Homemade cinnamon rolls . Not! That list of ingredients is a long-long list. Not simple like Homemade. Flour, sugar, cinnamon. Etc. Lots an lots of non pronouns-able words, not food items that Grandma would have put in her cinnamon rolls. Well, I'll back down of my soap box.. but it's disheartening.. to leave not purchasing what I was going to get.. sorry to be...

Written in the midst of COVID outbreak: No sanitizers and no care about health. Notice no responses to the fact they don't utilize safety precautions? Nothing useful for sale here. Old waste veggies coated in wax. Smelly chicken piled up for days with no sell by dates. You won't find any familiar brands. All raw meat variations sit in large piles on display for unknown amount of time. Maskless patrons with zero enforcement. Update 2023: Strange frozen foods at extremely high prices and greens don't last to expiration dates . Not even heinz ketchup is available here. Even water is priced insanely high. They had good cinnamon rolls though but it ended there. I'd pass on this one and head to Publix or Whole Foods. Literally no reason for anyone to shop here. It's a tourist trap and they know it.

We love their produce, supplements and ice cream, that’s why I gave them the 3 stars (more like 2.5 and that’s being generous). But their meat, poultry, and seafood quality has really gone down hill! Tastes very processed and has almost a chemical-like smell to them. It used to be a lot better, so I’m bummed to see the quality tank so much. I’ll also mention that on my way out, my daughter asked me for a hot dog so I grabbed her one, and once we got in the car and opened it, there was no way I was gonna allow her to eat it (I’ll post a picture of it below). And get this, they charged me $3.50 for that, which unfortunately went right in the trash! It looked so gross and dry, that I had to take a picture so they know to DO BETTER! Absolutely unacceptable. 🤢
