I was very happy with this restaurant the first time I went, and the second, last year UPDATE Bottom of this lengthy review. Something I was very unhappy about
OLD REVIEW Went to this restaurant for the first time today, I generally go to a nearby competitor Bangkok restaurant. I was favorably impressed. The place is cozy nicely decorated and has good music. The service was excellent. The menu was a large and the price is similar to Bangkok and possibly a little bit cheaper. The hours are better also, they are open for lunch instead of just dinner
. I deliberately ate the same meal I generally order at Bangkok so I could compare, which was red curry and chicken with coconut sauce and it was similar although I believe it's slightly tastier at Bangkok . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it however it's good. I ordered a glass of house Chardonnay which was very reasonably priced at 495 and coconut ice cream which tasted homemade. As an appetizer I had a confusion. I mentioned it so that it won't happen to you, I ordered fresh vegetable roll told him I didn't want it fried it came on the menu for 295 and when I got the bill it was 450 but I think it was a fresh spring rolls( 2) that they gave me and it was more food.. so I didn't say a word. But you might want to ask more about that if it's something you'd like to order. Nice restaurant and I will go back again. Check out some others on their menu good job! UPDATE APRIL 25 2019 The dish I had today was bizarre, I traveled for it because it’s rarely on a menu. It’s called Mei Kroob It’s a noodle dish. And I ordered it with shrimp, The dish arrived within moments which was very suspicious because this this usually takes a while to prepare and There was so much Unrecognizable-about it I don’t even feel like Going into it Don’t order it. Also the five good-looking jumbo shrimp tasted weird and not fresh.Extremely strange lunch experience I was out of that restaurant in 10 minutes taking the food with me, wondering if somebody else at home would eat it.
The server never said a word, never commented on the fact that I had barely touched it, In my opinion that’s very poor...
Read moreThis was my first time going to this restaurant. The first woman who sat me at my table and took my order was very kind. The second woman who brought out my food, had a very different demeanor. I ordered the Kao Soi with tofu. When the order was brought out to me, I noticed that there was chicken instead of the tofu I ordered and moved the bowl away from me. When the second waitress came over, she asked what was wrong. I politely told her that I ordered tofu. She grabbed my bowl without saying a word, and took it to the back. When she returned a few minutes later, my bowl had less curry in it, but I could see the tofu so I began eating it. As I’m eating my meal I notice a texture that is unlike anything else in the bowl. I then realized that I ate a piece of chicken. I then found another small piece of chicken and put it on the napkin by my drink. When the waitress returned, I asked her if they just took the large chunks of chicken out of my order and put the tofu in. She assured me that they remade my order entirely, and that the chunks of chicken that I found must have just been from the pot the curry came from. So either I was lied to, and they never actually remade my order and just scooped the chicken out and missed some, or every order with this particular curry has chunks of chicken in it and which case that should be listed on the menu. I never send back food and if it were another dish with vegetables or tofu I would have ate my meal without complaining. I don’t eat meat and the way I was made to feel like I was the problem is disappointing. There was not a single apology from the waitress on the order and she was noticeably annoyed with me for...
Read moreI had been wanting to try this place based on the reviews. Went last Saturday night. We got in before the rush. Place seems very popular on Saturday nights with many people who all seemed to know one another. We ordered panfried dumplings, panang duck, basil stir fry with seafood, and pork belly fried rice. I specifically told the waitress I wanted the stir fry to be spicy and thai hot. She said hot okay. I judge thai restaurants on how they handle this dish. Unfortunately they did not pass in my judgement. The sauce was not even mildly spicy. It was a red brown sauce that was like a sweet soy sauce that was sugary. I told the waitresses and they brought over some other condiments to add. They also explained that they don't spice it up for Americans. The pork belly looked like thick bacon cut up. (I'm spoiled by Indigenous which does a superb pork belly dish). The dumplings were delicious however the dipping sauce was a syrupy slightly thick sauce that again had that sweetness that the stir fry had. I really wanted to like this place and I’m sure other dishes might be delicious, but when they can't do this basic thai dish well, that's a disappointment. Had this same dish at Drunken Poet and they got the spice correct (although not as spicey as I'm accustomed to) nevertheless it had a nice spice to it. There are too many thai places in the area for me to want to go back here and drop another $100 plus tip. As others have said the decor is wonderful, wait staff pleasant if a bit overwhelmed on Saturday night, probably...
