I gave this place two tries. I ordered take-out for my family from this place twice and had such a bad experience the second time that I will order take-out from here again. I ordered five items, two appetizers and three main courses. They got two out of my five orders wrong, so we ended up with three appetizers and only two main courses. I had ordered the bun cha gio (vermicelli with egg rolls) and ended up getting just the cha gio (egg rolls) and no bun (vermicelli). When I discovered this mistake, I called the restaurant and tried to explain the mistake to the man on the phone. I kept telling him that I had ordered the bun cha gio and even said it in Vietnamese but he thought I ordered just the egg rolls. I asked him if he spoke Vietnamese and he said he did, but I still had to explain to him that bun cha gio means egg rolls with vermicelli.
He said that he couldn't hear me well because it was loud in the restaurant. If that was the case, he should have repeated my order back to me to make sure he got everything correctly. He didn't acknowledge the mistake and didn't apologize. He asked if I wanted to go back for another order of what I wanted. I had already been charged for the egg rolls and instead of offering me the vermicelli I had ordered for free, he wanted me to make another order, drive back out there, and pay for it. I was not interested in doing that. It's unfortunate one of our party did not get the main course I ordered, so we shared.
The second mistake was with the two pho items I ordered. I ordered one pho tai nam (rare steak and brisket) and one pho dac biet (special with all the beef). Instead of one of each, I got two orders of pho tai nam. I spoke very slowly and carefully with each item I ordered. Lastly, the lettuce in the spring rolls and the bean sprouts for the pho weren't even fresh. They...
Read moreStruggling to star this one because the food deserves a 3 star but my experience there was embarrassing and disappointing. People remember how you make them feel and with pho being a comfort food I am not comforted by Pho 101.
We are a family of 4. Our baby was having a rough night. The kind of night a parent with a young baby gets flushed cheeks and tense about. The night you know everyone at the restaurant is talking about you and you are trying everything to salvage a dinner out.
After we received our food, baby still was emitting sudden high pitched screams. Not cries and not constant so taking him out and calming him down didn't seem necessary and also 3 out of the 7 or 8 other tables had kids under 6 at them. The host? Owner? rushed by our table an whispered nearly inaudible but along the lines of "you know the other customers are unhappy." I was surprised but mostly embarrassed. I truly thought we had better judgement and care for others and were doing our best so I asked for our food to go and the check. On the way out one of the mothers said she totally understood and was reminded of when her kids were younger.
I get that my family shouldn't impact others' meals. I understand babies are messy eaters and I cannot imagine the mess we left because we were embarrassed and ran out not cleaning up like good parents do and still I am so very disappointed that this restaurant and employees just made us feel like sh*t.
Perhaps he could have pointed out the discomfort of others and kindly asked if he could pack our things to go and have some empathy rather than fly by whisper and leave everyone in that restaurant terribly uncomfortable. I'll reiterate, people remember how you make them feel and with pho being a comfort food I am not comforted by Pho 101.
So excellent food but definitely didn't leave me ever wanting...
Read moreI frequent this place quite often because I often get their bun bo hue and never minded that the place isn't the cleanest until my most recent visit.
Just as my food arrived, I looked down on the floor by my table and there was a giant cockroach running around. Before I get into this; my issue isn't about seeing a cockroach, my issue is more how they handled the situation.
One of the owners has her son come in often and I believe he has a hand in managing the place - when I flagged him down to let him know there was a roach running by my table (tried to do it discretely so I don't bring attention of it to other guests) he was shocked, noted it and walked away. I assumed he was immediately trying to go and get something to get rid of it only for me to see him doing the opposite.
I watched as he'd go up one by one talking to the staff about the roach (I know this because he'd point and glance at my table) and they'd all just kept staring at my table from the other side of the restaurant while I sat there super uncomfortable about the roach which is now crawling up the window right behind me. A bit of time goes by and I have not touched my bowl of food because I keep watching where the roach is behind me; and finally one of their staff members come over to ask where it is and finally gets rid of it which is great but by this time I've already lost my appetite. I cant get myself to finish my food after that, I pay, and leave.
As I was leaving, not a single apology from the owners son for my discomfort, all he said was a "bye, thanks". No offer of a discount, no anything. Like I said, loved their food but will not be coming...
