My family and I visited Atlas for dinner as a special treat on an otherwise uneventful Saturday evening.
The proprietor welcomed us in with a very friendly introduction and even helped us select food that best met our needs. We came up with a beef kabob plate, a veggie plate and a side of hummus. The kabobs were tasty (per my wife) and the rice was cooked just right for this style of food. The veggie plate was a bit underwhelming, especially when compared with the sheer quantity of food that comes with a plate of meat. Yes, the meat plate is more expensive but both should come with about the same amount of food. Just wish it had a bit more to it.
We visit lots and lots of middle eastern and mediterranean restaurants and typically sample the hummus as we did at Atlas. I found the hummus here to be underwhelming. Looking at it, it's a little chunky and comes topped with a clear oil (presumably olive?) that didn't add flavor to it. Digging in, it was clearly hummus but didn't have the traditional creaminess or garlic notes that we're used to. The one flavor that stood out was lemon which was nice but wasn't enough to hold the hummus up on its own. The bread was also not what we were expecting...being more of a cut up pizza dough instead of a more traditional pita or similar flatbread.
Net - great meat stuffs. Not so hot for hummus or...

We had the Kashke Bademjon and the Olivieh Salad as appetizers. The eggplant was pure perfection and the potatoe/egg salad was sooo good. The appetizers also came with salad, hummus, and home made flat bread. The bread was amazing, the salad dressing was so good they could bottle and sell it. The hummus was an amazing deep flavor of roasted chickpeas that was so well balanced.
When we ordered we requested to exchange the ground beef (Beef Koobideh) in the Soltan for the chicken breast (Joojeh Kabob). They politely told us they could not not they could do the ground chicken (Chicken Koobideh). We ended up with one plate with the ground chicken and one with the ground beef as well as the Barg (Filet Mignon). We were a little worried about the ground beef as one in our party had previously had a poor one. When I tell you that the Beef Koobideh (ground beef) kabob was the best ground beef I have ever had I am not joking. It was absolutely to die for. Both the ground chicken and Filet Mignon were delicious as well. However, the Beef Koobideh was so...
Read moreWent in. Was greeted as I went in. Very nice guy...sat me on the table and handed me the menu. I ordered dinner. My god! lovely. I noticed that the food was very well cooked and delicious. Later I researched some of the names of the food on his menu and realized they were all traditional home made food that is mostly cooked in homes of families in the Middle East. A mixture of Persian and Arabian food. I don't know why its called Mediterranean and not Middle Eastern or Persian, but am assuming its due to bad public misconception about the region and inaccurate media coverage and bad politics etc. Anyway the food is great and it is very low in fat. It is very healthy. When I say great I mean freaking tasty! I do recommend that you do ask what you are ordering because most of the food has Persian names and you might not know what they are. Guys and women, if you want something that is delicious and at the same time not worry about your weight, go to this place. The food he makes is hand prepared and...
