Dairy Queen — Restaurant in Simi Valley

Was coming home from dinner with some friends and we all decided to stop in to DQ. I checked online their hours before we got there and found they were still open; it was 9:20 and the hours online said they were open until 10. We walked up and the “Open” sign was still lit up and when we walked in it smelled so strongly of cleaning products, which was fine bc at least the place was clean. However there was no employee at the front, and we could see a person hiding in the back. After a couple minutes of standing there a girl finally comes out and just immediately goes, “We’re basically closed.” It wasn’t even 9:30 and they had already cleaned and shut everything down. Rude employees and if they can decide to close the place early when they feel like it they should at least update their hours online or at bare minimum put up a closed sign or shut off...

Bought a banana split today. It was almost $10. The ice cream amount was very small, the banana was overly ripe, and the sauces were not enough to cover the ice cream! On top of that, the cashier tried to keep some of my change back!! Buy your banana split somewhere else!!!

It's nice that the owner wrote a long response. The brown banana was the best that you had on hand. Buy fresher fruit. Your portions are not proportionate to your price. Your cashier was NOT going to give me the correct change. I don't care if it was 3 pennies. It was my money. Are you admitting that your employee doesn't know how to count? Can't go wrong with this place. The ONLY ice cream spot I enjoy because it has not changed! I have been to some fancy shmancy ice cream spots, but they are either too focused on their decor that their product isn't good quality, or their ice cream is just toooo sweet! Yes - I know I love ice cream, but it has to be just the right sweetness, and Dairy Queen is what hits the "sweet spot" just right ;) My personal favorite is a Georgia Mud Fudge Blizzard. It's not on the menu, but it is the perfect blend of all my faves. Brownie bits to add chewy texture, pecans to offset the brownies with a little crunch.
